Freepers, take action. I am reposting this after the moderator decided that only selective activism posts are allowed on breaking news. Apparently, our moderators support CFR.

As I am unfortunate to have Shays as my Congressman, there is not much that I can do.

I was going to post this as a separate BN, but I'll just dump it here to...

OK FOLKS! HERE'S THE FOLKS TO FOCUS ON! Senator McCain just sent out the following e-mail to his Straight Talk Express Supporters...

SUBJECT: ACTION ALERT!

The Shays-Meehan campaign finance reform bill is scheduled for a vote on Wednesday, February 13. In addition to banning soft money, the bill strengthens other campaign finance laws making it more difficult for special interest to hid behind sham issue ads and skew the political climate during elections.

Senator McCain wants you to know that those who oppose reform are determined to stop the Shays-Meehan legislation, amend it to death or replace it with a bogus alternative - the Ney Bill. But, we are not going to miss this historic opportunity for change. Please help us by using your email and faxes to get the message to some wavering members that now is the time or courage. It's time for the House of Representatives to put the country’s interest ahead of their own political interest.

Below are a list of House Members that need to hear that we need their support on both passage of Shays-Meehan and fending off poison pill amendments. Please phone or fax each one with that message. Thanks for your continued support and commitment.

· Congressman Bud Cramer (D- AL) - (202) 225-4801 - (202) 225-4392 fax

· Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR) - (202) 225-3772 - (202) 225-1314 fax

++++++++++

LET THEM KNOW WHY DEFEATING SHAYS-MEEHAN IS IMPORTANT TO YOU!!!

both Shays-Mehan & McCain's bill are totally anti-free speech and nazi-esque. But I heard on the radio that there was a new feature to this bill that is very positive IMHO. It would double the individual limit of donations to a candidate from $1,000 to $2,000. That would be very positive. It would make it easier for american citizens to give money and would free the politicians from having to beg to the big PACs. If individual politicians find it much easier to raise money, then they won't be so beholden to the parties and the big pacs that give all that soft money.

EXX-x-x-xcuse you! You just sent to a campaign finance SUPPORTER. Caught Marty on Meet the Press yesterday and, even for a Democrat, he made a lot of sense. Sorry, but I can't say the same about Enron-backing Repubs...

Don't be posting this garbage in Breaking News. The only stories that belong in Breaking News are stories about Disney them parks, Sunday morning talk shows, DEBKA promising for the 5th time that Israel will be invaded by Iraq within 48 hours, the Olympics, and Justice Scalia speaking engagements. < /sarcasm >

[I did actually see all these in Breaking News this weekend, and that ain't sarcasm.]

We can not count on a veto from President Bush. He is under lots of pressure from the media and may allow pretty much any bill to pass, quietly working to get Republicans to challenge it in the courts

What a sad commentary that the supposedly conservative President cannot be relied upon to veto a bill that repeals the first amendment. Too much media pressure. A President who either has no principles or values his political popularity more than he values them. "He may allow pretty much any bill to pass."

Pretty frightening stuff coming from his supporters.

Freepers take action

I'd like to but RINO Greenwood is my representative to Congress.

But, in a timely coincidence, last night as I was researching his record for the upcoming primary challenge I came across the NRLC scorecard. Scroll on down to vote 18 for more information.

I news clips that ran yesterday on Mass radio stations, Meehan is carefully following the Carville/Demo strategy and is mentioning Enron in his first sentence in comments on Shays-Meehan, and is trying to tie opposition to his bill to the Repubs and the Enron mess.

Meehan is just another useless liberal Demo tool from Mass who takes his orders from the DNC, Teddy K and Carville. They say: "Jump", and he says "How High?"

This is my letter to my Congressman, I couldn't resist pointing out Lieberman et al hypocrisy.

I strongly urge you to defeat the current efforts to pass a Shays-Meehan Campaign Finance Reform Bill. The rights granted under the Constitution are far too important to throw away, no matter how much the media would like you to do.

The circus hearings now being conducted regarding Enron, prove beyond a doubt that Campaign Finance Reform is not needed. Joseph Lieberman, Fritz Hollings and Henry Waxman are the most media prominent Congressional investigators. Each one has been the recipient of donations from Enron, Citigroup and Arthur Andersen. Each one has piously stated that Enron donations will have zero effect on their impartial investigations. What better proof is necessary that there is no need for Campaign Finance Reform.

Please feel free to contact me relative to this matter.

Very truly yours,
