Thank you for flying Gestapo Airlines, now that we have landed in Salt Lake City you may now safely return your hands to the non-perp position. It has been a pleasure to treat you like Islamic Terrorists. Next time you feel the need to have your human diginity removed, remember us!

This is no time to be engaging in little acts of machismo and defiance. If he wanted to act like a rebel, then he's going to the right place.

You seem to not know that America was FOUNDED FOR GOD'S SAKE BY REBELS!!!

I'm sure if you had lived in their day you would have made use then, too, of such drivel as, "This is no time to be engaging in little acts of machismo and defiance." Bah! You don't deserve to live in a free country. This airline passenger knows what REAL patriotism is...exercising the God-given right to go to the can when nature calls.

At least he's a guy. If he was desperate, he could have peed in a cup.

The jerk glared and gave a "signal" to one of his buddies.

Perhaps I missed it, but when did it become illegal, or even suspect, to stare at someone who tells you *after* you have just gone to the can, that you *can't* go to the can, and then give a thumbs-up to a fellow American who sees the humor in the whole act, and probably is in dire need of the can himself?

Is this America?! Does no one else see the insanity here?!

People are such idiots... I was flying into Reagan National near the end of December and they must have announced a DOZEN times that no one was to stand or move about the cabin for the 30 minutes prior to landing in DC and explained why the rule was in place.

At 30 minutes inbound, the pilot made the announcement that the policy was now in place, and 3 minutes later the idiot in front of me decides he HAS to get into his overhead bin. The guy was lucky he only had to deal with the flight attendent... The two SAC Generals sitting across the aisle from me did NOT look pleased.

...or are we at the point now where we will do anything we are told without question?

Apparently so, Russ.

Now it begins... We've lost the right to pee in an aircraft when we need to. Which of your freedoms will they take next. A little bit here, a little bit there. These small pieces all add up in the long run.

eh..I think standing up to get into the overhead compartment is a little different than having to go to the can.

Didn't some drunk gal get seven years for peeing on the floor of a police station a few weeks ago?

And just sit there and piss your pants like a good little slave? Even in prison they can't deny you bathroom breaks. I would be outraged and would find the nearest shyster to file a lawsuit against the airlines and the FAA.

Well, they both could have been done at 60 min prior to landing when the pilot first reminded everyone, or at 45 minutes to arrival when the pilot reminded them again or at 35 minutes to arrival when the pilot warned them a third time.

Stupid people bug me.

This is crazy. Unfortunately when people get older they don't have as much control over their bodily functions as they did when they were younger. What is someone supposed to do, pee or crap in their pants? If they are that concerned then they should stand and watch the person "do the business" but it can't be expected that people should soil themselves. What happens if a person says "okay, you won't let me go to the bathroom, so I'll just do it in the isle? Maybe it's a good intentioned law, but people need to understand that sometimes the law has to be a little flexible.

We're probably operating on incomplete information, but to me the guy is a jerk who was acting smart with the stwardess. I don't see where he made a threat. I don't read anything him being restrained, the cuffed, or of his friend being cuffed on the flight, detained for questioning and then released. This tells me that the air marshalls realized they weren't dealing with a real threat. In that case, three of them could have maintained control of the cabin without a "hands on the head" drill for all the passengers.

If the US Congress were not so busy investigating Enron and re-regulating business now, I'd suggest that they take this matter up. Unless I am mistaken, peeing and pooping are two areas of human activity that are not yet properly regulated by the federal government and it's high time they came under the wings of the federal regulatory agencies. Imagine that, an airline passenger deciding on his own when he needs to go pee (or poop as the case might be.) We are still uncivilized in some areas, are we not?

The part that bothers me is ordering all passengers to put their hands on their heads for the remainder of the flight. Isn't that a bit extreme or are we at the point now where we will do anything we are told without question?

I agree, though I'd have put my hands on my head too. See 35.

I agree. Because he returned to his seat "slowly", the marshalls must have thought he was a terrorist which indicts the entire Federal screening process which is supposed to detect/screen out potential terrorists.
