ANWR SURVEY

A $25,000 grant was given to the City of Kaktovik by the State of Alaska to educate people about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  With the funds, the City of Kaktovik has developed this web site, made a calendar and taken a survey of the people of Kaktovik.  The survey asks questions of the local residents regarding current oil development practices on the North Slope of Alaska and their opinions of future oil development.  There were 68 people surveyed and the results of the survey are posted here.  These results will be sent to legislators in Juneau as well as Washington, D.C.  The people of the village of Kaktovik will be the ones most affected by oil development and exploration on ANWR.  Their opinions should be considered when a decision is being made.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact the City of Kaktovik.

Perhaps one day, the people of Kaktovik will get their chance to be heard in Congress despite the whining ASSEs (Armchair Self-righteous Social Engineers)!

The survey would be more valuable if 5,7 and 9 had been set up correctly. Apparently people could choose more than one answer, how else do you wind up with answers totaling 160+%?

Agree, and I'd like to know what "public transportation" they are talking about. No roads, everyone in the bush has snowmachines, as they are called up here.

Well, I guess that the congresscritters of the lower 48 think its THEIR perogative to tell Alaska that they oil can't be drilled, and the state developed. I guess the congresscritters of the lower 48 WANT to be beholden to the MidEast and SA oil tyrants instead of Americans. I guess the congresscritters think the oil tyrants are benevolent and will endlessly supply oil to the US as it wages war on terror against Muslim extremists. What the heck is in those Congresscritters' WATER?

ANWR is dead, but the southern route for the natural gas pipeline is now mandated. And the price of bulk natural gas just went above $2.70, which is the breakeven point for the building of the natural gas pipeline. Still 5 years away from first delivery of natural gas to the midwest if the permitting process begins today, which it isn't. No pipe has been ordered, 30% tariff or not.

It's dead this year. Maybe next year it will fly. The Energy bill in the Senate had ANWR removed but the gas pipeline southern route mandate inserted. Daschle did it.
