With their efforts to get the federal government to pay reparations failing to bear fruit, it appears the forces of racial grievance-mongering plan to go after businesses. Any company that can, however peripherally, be tied to slavery or oppression of minorities had better watch out.

Jesse Jackson. The greatest practioner of extortion in the history of crime. Davis must be desperate in the polling if he needs to get on his knees in front Jesse.

Even if states or the fed ante'd up reparations funds (which, by the way, would be a colossal injustice to the tax paying public), it would never be enough for these extortionists. Once they got their paycheck, they'd scream it wasn't enough, that there wasn't an apology, that they want more than cash, that it should be strung out over as many years as slavery occured, that it should be strung out over as many years as blacks have been oppressed, they want their own country within the U.S., that they want the U.S., etc.

Hmmm.... the end sounds vaguely familiar... kind of like what the Palestinians are doing to the Israeli's.

This article is exactly whats wrong with America.

It points out the following scabs that keep growing in America.

1. Davis; Political correctness by ruthless power grabbing individuals who would sell this country down the drain just to be elected. What makes them even more dastardly is, even they do not believe in what they do. It's all for votes.

2. Jesse Jackson. This man by his actions proves the first statement accurate. Like a skunk smelling its own hole he finds those that are as corrupt as he. I feel more sorry for the sheep that follow this misguided individual.

3. California; The ultimate Liberal State. Number one on the homeless population and, soon to be number one on those looking for reparations. The homeless don't flock there because they like California, they do so because the States TAX PAYERS are Liberals and like high taxes. just listen to them. This will soon spread to those looking for more TAX money. "The Reparations Crowd".

4.Harry Low; Another power grabbing underling. Somewhere in California's future this guy visions his name on the Marquee. To make this a reality you must agree and support those above you. Even if you yourself don't agree with them. Wake up America.

The entire reparations issue is almost certain to backfire on Democrats. It's fundamentally unfair to white Americans (and that is who is targetted here), who had nothing to do with injustices committed generations ago.

Additionally, it completely ignores all the government aid which has been specifically targetted toward the minority communities over the years. It's in the hundreds of billions of dollars, not to mention the affirmative action programs, etc.

If the Democrats want to drive all whites out of their party, they couldn't possibly pick a better way to do it.

Jesse preys on the less-informed, and makes sure that with his religious fervor that those who are ill-informed stay that way. "Why a man of the cloth would never steer me wrong!"

Yet, we see Catholic Priests trying to hide behind the cloth to keep out of trouble (best advice for the Pope in three words: "Call The Police"). Jackson is no better, hiding behind a combination of religion and race to do his dirty work. He is nothing better than a looter after a tornado has ripped through a small town in the midwest. He encourages hand-outs, and he promotes them by making sure that any money that is donated to "people of color" enter his coffers.

He claims not-for-profit status, but he profits more than any televangelist ever did. While he pimps unenlightened blacks, he derides those of us who have come out from under the shadow of ignorance to find that there is nothing wrong with being black and conservative. He would rather not have anyone question his usurped "authority," and uses strong-arm tactics against anyone who gets in his way.

Just ask a fellow member of Project 21 of mine, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.

I say if the good people of California want to pay reparations, let 'em. Among the delicious ironies here will be the sight of more people getting reparations than are being forced to pay for them, if they include the Mexicans and Asians with the blacks; never mind the fact that there never was slavery in Calfornia, unless you count what Father Serra and his missionaries did for the natives. I'll bet Californians are thrilled to hear this, especially the Democrats.

For once, I have to agree with Gov. Red Davis. Slave owners were deprived of their property without compensation. It's about time this injustice was rectified.

Jackson praised Davis and state Insurance Commissioner Harry Low for assisting the current study and "laying out the predicate . . . which will go a long way toward a national remedy of this crisis. If we correct a wrong, and make a crooked way straight, everybody wins."

I have, up until reading this article, been operating under the assumption that those at this venue who referred to Governor Davis as "Red Davis," were engaging in political hyperbole. I apologize. While the man is not, I presume, an actual member of any Communist party, he has apparently made a deep personal commitment to ideological or philosphic Communism. There is no other way to explain such a position.

Reparations to a group that was at a social or economic disadvantage in an earlier generation is a totally ludicrous concept if you have any respect for the historic realities of the human condition. There have always been those who were at a disadvantage with respect to others. In reality, this is one of the realities of human existence. The slave disadvantage in an earlier America--and I was not aware that there were many slaves in California, after we acquired it--is no different than that of innumerable classes of bondsmen (recognized as proper and accepted throughout the Bible), in the ancient world--or to the serfs under Feudalism.

In England and Scotland, although most of Feudalism had ended earlier, there were still people who were considered the property of coal and salt mines until the George III, whom Americans rebelled against, freed them.

The point is that to compensate a previous under-class, anywhere, for having been an underclass, is to open an insane can of worms, that would undermine virtually every people on earth.

I now really begin to understand what Californians have been complaining about. I apologize for not having been more sympathetic earlier. Hopefully, this will lead to your liberation under Simon.

I lived in the state most of my life and I had no idea that California used to be a slave state.

Gee, Gray, those private election polls you have commissioned must really be bad news for you to pander this much.

"..., said he would not expect reparations to be paid to individuals but to nonprofit groups,..."

Individuals won't be in on this cut. This round is for jess and his buds.

If Davis feels the need to get on his knees in front of Jesse, he should just Do it!

Then the taxpayers would not have to submit to fiscal anal-rape.

I say if the good people of California want to pay reparations, let 'em.

The plan, as this article makes clear, isn't to have the people of California paying reparations, it's to have the stockholders of major corporations pay. That's everyone. Considering that these days even union members are stockholders, I wonder just how well this will fly.

This post just begins to make me wonder about Gray Davis.

1. California was never a slave state.

2. Who the heck is going to pay for all of these reparations to the "opressed"? I live in California, im a minority, but I dont support this ludacris idea, nor will i pay for ANY part of it, nor do I advocate anyone else in California paying for it.

3. This is just a cheap way to try to and buy minority votes. It pretty much boils down to this concept "Re-elect me, Gray Davis, and I will kick down a little cash. I don't know where im going to come up with these funds, but ill figure something out by the time re-election comes up again."

Davis is just talking out of his ass. If he advocates a ludacris idea like this then maybe he should have the California Democratic Party pay for it, or maybe he should just sit down with Jesse Jackson and figure out how to loot some more people to pay for it.

This appears to me to be a step in setting the stage for gouging reparations money out of insurance companies and any other businesses they can link to slavery in some way. I can't see Davis signing up to have the state itself paying, given the current budget situation and the desire of the Sacramento Democrats to keep control of all that money so that they can use it to wield power. But if they can extort it from business, no problem! The tobacco settlement set the precedent of government targetting private industry and extracting tribute, and has whetted their appetites for more.

Um.  Someone should explain to Governer Davis that THEY'RE ALL DEAD.

All of them.  Each and every one.
