[history]
A tax break for environmental groups is being added to part of President Bush's faith-based initiative, angering some conservatives.
The provision gives a 25 percent discount on capital-gains tax to private property owners who sell their land to environmental groups or the government, instead of to other private parties.

There he goes again.
If conservatism was a crime and Bush was charged with it - the case would get thrown out of court on lack of evidence.

McCain is so liberal - so leftist -even the Democrats are embarassed to have his support. I'll call Bush a lot of things, but I'll never say he's worse than McCain.

Okay, okay -- maybe McCain is an overreach. But between yesterdays Socialist Housing Proposal and todays Tax Credit for PETA Proposal, I'm not seeing the conservative I was hoping for. In fact, I'm seeing pretty much a Gore-lite neo-socialist.

What a crock, This was added to the original bill by Max Baucus ("A tax break for environmental groups is being added to part of President Bush's faith-based initiative") but somehow this reporter wants to say it was Bush who came up with it. Another example of how the left is trying to stir up the right

Another example of how the left is trying to stir up the rightThe exact wording is: "The tax cut is supported by the Bush administration," and if that's not the case, it certainly seems that the opponents of the tax cut who are quoted believe the administration is backing it. BTW, this is from the Washington Times -- not exactly "the left."
To: niki
If it wasn't in the Bill to begin with, and the Bush Administration isn't quoted in this article, I can hardly jump the gun like everyone did over the Enviromental Report that turned out to be nothing. But by all means take don't let that stop you from trashing the President

Private-property-rights groups are fighting the tax cut, which first appeared as a 50 percent break in Mr. Bush's budget. It's getting to the place where you not only have to hold your nose and vote, you have to hold your bowels as well!
Where's Gary Cooper when you need him? I hear Fox is going to do a movie about Bush called Gungha Dim!
When Jeoffards threw the Senate to the Dems, I never imaged someone else would be throwing the White House to them as well.
Why vote for a Democrat these days? Republicans can pass their agenda much faster than they ever could.
Let me see, support for Kennedy's $300 billion dollar nationalized health care plan, support for a medication addition to Medicare, $40 billion more for the revered Department of Education, the destruction of 75% of our nuclear deterence, abandonment of the two theater military concept, amnesty for illegals, gifted down payments for special interest groups, tax breaks for environmental whacko orgs... I love it what a conservative plan comes together!
If I'd have only known, I'd have voted McGovern in '72. We didn't have to wait thirty years to implement his platform?
Coombayaaa, coombayaaa, coombayaaa, coombayaaa...
Turn your lights on, you are now entering RINO hell!
Warning! 37% decline next 6.5 years... use lower gears!

This is disgusting.
Well, anything to get more land in the hands of bureaucrats, eh?

I don't really see a big problem here. It's a tax break for selling land to charities. We already give tax breaks for charity donations, so what's new?? What Am I missing??
There he goes again.
If conservatism was a crime and Bush was charged with it - the case would get thrown out of court on lack of evidence.
And as far as there he goes again. Let's keep in mind that Bush is suspending Clinton enviromental regs that harms coal energy plants. And Bush did disavow the epa study that was pro-global warming. Let's remember everything that Bush does, before we declare that there is no evidence for conservatism.
To: MJY1288
But by all means take don't let that stop you from trashing the President LOL. Yes, I just trashed him by posting a quote in the article. I think maybe you are a little too sensitive regarding your boy.

He's just throwing us a few "nuggets", but, in the final analysis, this guy is a democrat dressed as a republican pretending to be a conservative while embracing the leftist liberal agenda. He's even not following the bush doctrine relative to countries that harbour terrorists.

The left is DESPERATE and grabbing at anything they think might stick. Bush has removed most planks the Dems rely on to attack every conservative President and their only hope is to divide conservatives. Unfortunately many posters on this forum are willing to be led by the Dems without even realizing that they are playing their game.

Sorry, but you're wrong there, pal. Bush has included this proposal in both of the budgets he has submitted to Congress. You'll find it on page 44 of Analytical Perspectives from the FY2002 budget and on page 71 of the same document from the FY2003 budget. The budget document calls it, "a cost-effective, non-regulatory approach to conservation."

It's getting to the place where you not only have to hold your nose and vote, you have to hold your bowels as well! It's way past time to hold on to your wallet!
The only way to excuse some of these recent moves is to hope that this is all part of a grand strategery that will quickly bring about the collapse of the welfare state and a return to Constitutional government.
I'm not holding my breath. Who's the choice in '04, L. Neil Smith?

Did President Bush not campaign as a person who would work with both sides of the aisle to accomplish those things that needed to be done for the good of our nation? Sometimes you have to give a little to get what you want. I may not agree with every proposal he makes, but I never expected to agree with him 100% in the first place. Why is Bush held to conservative perfection and why do people expect for him to be in total agreement with their own personal philosophies? I don't recall any other President being held up to such scrutiny and expectations.

These groups are the same Nature's Conservancy and other leftist orgs that swooped down on Klamath falls to pick up property for dimes on the dollar after the water was cut off to the farmers. This is an old tactic of the federal government and the conservancy groups. The feds regulate the land owner into paper hell, then when the property is worthless the conservancy groups go in and pick up the real estate real cheap. This goes on all around the nation. Most people are completely unaware.
Has Bush rescined the Heritage Rivers Initiative? It was one of the worst pieces of legislation to ever hit this nation with regard to property rights.

It's an across the board problem with Bush. The guy simply is not centered in conservatism.

LOL, I didn't have the heart to mention it and knew someone else would. What can you say?

Hey - didn't you used to be a McCain fanatic or something? Nope I am called a "Bushbot" by most of the unappeaseables.
A "slur" that is worn as a badge of honor, btw.
Anyway you all go on with your tantrums. You all have your pictures right next to the word "reactionary" in the dictionary, IMHO.

Did you just say Bush has implemented most planks of the Democrat Platform? No, I didn't. He took their domestic issues and gave enough towards them to make those that typically vote Dem. without looking to at least make a second thought towards voting Republican. The Democratic Party always holds domestic issues as the weakest link in the conservatives chain of issues. By removing a complete hold on those issues he is opening up the way for more people to look at the Republican Party in a different manner than that presented by the Dems and to hopefully filling the ballot box with Republican votes.

Environment and faith-based? Sounds to me like he'classifying environmentalism as a faith (religion).
What can I say? More of the same. It's getting disgusting and irritating. I have a feeling that Bush's base in the next election will not be the right leaning conservatives. I think many of them will stay home and not vote.
