That's better, IMHO, than what the impurists have to offer.

And then, we get more and more train wrecks.

Sorry, I don't buy that notion. Objectively, your actions are aiding the left. Objectively, they will only set us back in efforts to get things right. I consdier that to be back-stabbing that is just as reprehensible as the back-stabbing done by RINOs like John Warner (against Ollie North in 1994) and Donnie DiFrancesco (against Bret Schundler in 2001).

He has always claimed that family values are a matter of individual conscience.

Excuse me, gay marriage and "domestic partners" is a matter of State law and public expense, respectively. Just keep buffing that "moderate Republican" turd and you may never learn how to sell swing constituencies on how conservative principles work for them.

And Simon's answers to the anti-family pressure group's questionnnaire in this thread, will NOT aid the left? He's caving on family issues/decency for the sodomite vote, and Sean Hannity also called him on the illegal alien issue and it is clear he is pandering there, too.

Some 'standard bearer.'

I'll be interested in your comments on posting #2, which looks absolutely bone-stupid — and comes from a reputable, good organization.

As a reminder, I'm still waiting for the promised explanation on "Pro-choicers, I'm really OK on abortion, never worry; heck, my wife's pro-abort!"

Thanks,
Dan

Re#42 Yep, sadly. Hard to figure how ego/power trumps the party/principles. Man is a strange bird...

Why don't you kindly just back off the personal attacks on another Freeper? (#16) So what if you don't see eye to eye. That happens all the time here on FR.

But you don't have to get nasty and personal about it.

I suggest the problem here is not with the 'purists', but rather with office holders or potential office holders who moderate their positions on 'must have/big ticket issues' after running as conservatives in a primary (a particularly interesting phenomenological strain in the GOP seen year-after-year in all parts of the country, and which not a few of your fellow conservatives find rather obectionable).

Translation: Because he doesn't agree with you on two out of a number of issues, you will act no differently than RINOs like John Warner and Donnie DiFrancesco.

You will, because it's not your way, sabotage a candidate that is still an improvment in other vital conservative issues. I don't call that principle, I call that a craven temprer-tantrum. It is no better than the backstabbing from RINOs elsewhere that I have mentioned of good conservatives.

I have condemned them in no uncertain terms, and I will condemn your back-stabbing in no uncertain terms. Do I agree with Simon 100%? No. But if I were in California, he'd have my vote. He's the best chance to dump Gray Davis, and dumping Davis and his coin-operated governing is reason enough to vote for Simon.

By your actions, you provide far more aid and comfort to the Left than Bill Simon did with that questionaire. By defeating Simon, you will destroy many of the principles you claim to stand for. I will fight that as vociferously as I can.

Fine. Have at it. I've heard this old retread of an argument for all too many years. :-)

If you've been posting or lurking since December 2000 I believe you may know the answer.

I think I'm sorting it out.

You spout the conservative talk, but your actions are objectively pro-Left.

Damn right I do. I and many others spend hours creating campaigns to try and defeat Democrat Socialists around the nation in this most critical of years. Even if he wins, a poor margin or turnout for Davis, or conversely strong Conservative showing can influence dozens of smaller races in California. Distractions like this only strengthen the other side, and I have to wonder where the loyalties of those posting it lie.

I am sick and tired of the skunks who come on here right when Simon is trying to regain momentum and stab him in the back. Either shut the hell up or go work for Gray Davis.

And why in hell is Hannity even challenging Davis on the Mexcian crap NOW? This is stuff for the primary boys, get behind our candidate with two months to go.

California is a socially liberal state, and he has a much better chance at being elected if he shows that he's willing to go along with the majority - another political principle.

That majority passed Prop 22 denying gays the right to marry. Californians may be extremely tolerant and parts of California socially liberal, but the classification of California on the whole as a socially liberal state needs to be rethought.

"For the duration, I think anyone posting such articles is a traitor to the conservative cause of electing a conservative to be governor of California, or a Democrat saboteur working for Davis."

The traitors to conservatives and the Republican Party of California are Bush, Rove, and their mouthpiece liberal who has all but destroyed the state party Parsky!

I believe that all this liberal crap coming from Simon was demended by Rove or Bush wouldn't have come back to California.

Actually CCF is not a reputable organization. Randy Thomasson has exactly zero respect among the conservative leaders of this state. His message is full of out right falsehoods. Bill Simon is totally opposed to same sex marriage, always has been. Nothing has changed.

Thomasson does this to get microphones shoved in his face. It's all he has. The liberal press lie waiting to pounce when one so-called conservative tears down another. That is what Randy does for a living and it's why conservative legislators in California will have nothing to do with him.

I spend my life working to advance conservatives and Randy lives to tear them down. Believe me its far, far more difficult to accomplish the former than the latter.

It's all-or-nothing. They will take Davis because Simon is not perfect.

Good point. Better to elect a candidate that is 70% of what we want than 0%.
