California Governor’s Race: Only Vote Fraud Can Save Davis Now

Patrick Mallon
Monday, Sept. 30, 2002
Gray Davis has already lost the election, and he knows it.

Like a hesitant kid searching for an exit in the house of mirrors, where distortions have now become nightmares, he can no longer evade his own image and his dismal record.

Forget the weasel-like avoidance of debates with challenger Bill Simon, the silence on the employment meltdown, the emergency issuance of bonds, and the $24 billion deficit. The soon-to-be former governor is trapped. And these are only a fraction of his problems.

Suicidal Economic Policies and Spurned Businessmen

State Controller Kathleen Connell said this week that California immediately needed to borrow $12.5 billion to keep the state solvent through October.

In "California Loses Favorable Rating With Executives" (Sept. 24., WSJ), "When asked to name three states with the least favorable ‘business climates,’ 57 percent of 283 executives polled named California - more than the COMBINED similar negative ratings given to the next two states, New York (36 percent) and Massachusetts (18 percent)."

The state is now the least attractive of all 50 states in which to operate a business. And don’t look now, but prominent economists and financial analysts all concede the inevitable: Income taxes, sales taxes and the biggest bomb yet, the imposition of a 3 percent tax when you sell your house (after all, the state, and not you, should get your home’s appreciation), all will rise.

The state cannot get enough! Like parasites and termites, eating, gnawing, draining every free cent from strapped taxpayers.

One has to give Davis credit for his unmitigated gall. Because businesses are "evil," even businesses such as Tosco, the 800-pound tax gorilla will jump onto the backs of consumers and businesses, all at a time of falling prices, weak demand and low profits. And here we thought the governor’s family-leave plan solved everything.

Desperation Time for the Democratic Party

In desperation, Davis and his condescending team of blowhards have little choice; they must move even further to the left (if that’s conceivable) to shore up their base, rewarding generous trial lawyers, quietly "volunteering" state employees to whom Davis has granted fat pay increases and pensions as "campaign workers," and stimulating the brotherhood of victimhood: minority activists and gay rights fascists.

As Joseph Stalin said: "Ideas are far more powerful than guns. We don't allow our enemies to have guns; why should we allow them to have ideas?" And liberals are good Stalinists. Like Stalin and the Communist Party, Christians are out, and atheists are in.

Davis too has mastered textbook Democratic Party dogma: Shamelessly mute all opposition and dialogue with a powerful witches' brew of mental intimidation and thought control. Maximize the "chilling effect" of buzz words. Characterize any conservative as a right-wing extremist, a bigot, a homophobe.

This explains how a shakedown artist such as Jesse Jackson can come out for photo ops with Davis with nary a whisper. Certain people are protected by the media AWACs system, and Davis is one of them. His job is to protect and defend the people and the leftist agenda the media thrust down the public’s throat like ipecac.

This huge psychological and image advantage however, still may not be enough to save the governor from the inevitable. Enter vote fraud!

Out-of-Control Immigration and Rigged Elections

The insulting silence on illegal immigration is shared by both parties. Before examining an informative tale, it’s important to set the stage. California is home to an estimated 7 million illegal aliens, none of whom file state taxes, unless in possession of easily obtained false social security numbers.

Actually, hundreds of thousands of illegals have MULTIPLE Social Security numbers to obtain additional welfare benefits, but that’s another story.

Anyway, the New York Times, perhaps in a fit of foreign admonition not equally applicable to the U.S., addressed this subject in a Sept. 27 piece titled "In Benetton’s Hometown, Colors Are Not United."

In it they described Treviso, Italy, where "residents who complain about the influx of immigrants said they did not object to immigration itself but with the consequences of it." Huh?

Residents "recited a familiar litany: crime had gone up; some immigrants loitered disruptively in public places; others crowded into houses and apartments meant for fewer people; still others occupied houses illegally; the immigrants stuck to themselves and refused to assimilate."

The outspoken mayor of Treviso, lauded for having the courage to curb out-of-control immigration, said: "Without these strict measures, we would lose our identity, our culture, our traditions, our religion and language. We would be annulled. It would be the apocalypse of our Italian culture."

Sound remotely familiar? An honest public official making this statement in the U.S. would be labeled a racist, and his career would be over.

In California, 25 percent of the prison population are illegal aliens, corners of most major cities are populated with day laborers eager for work, major portions of the city of Santa Ana are crime- and gang-ridden barrios, and Gray Davis wants to grant driver's licenses to 1 million illegal aliens.

The laughably neutered press, instructed to avoid the topic domestically like the plague, can investigate and report on this obvious global immigration emergency occurring worldwide.

Yet ask the desks at self-impressed papers such as the L.A. Times and the San Francisco Chronicle to apply the same formula here in the states, where the magnitude and sheer numbers of illegals entering the U.S. dwarfs every country in the world combined, and all you get is a smirk. The journalistic dishonesty is breathtaking, and more people are ignoring these imbecilic newspapers.

It is in fact Gray Davis who seeks to exploit illegal immigration to his advantage in the voting booth. Anyone with a driver's license can register to vote through the DMV (just sign a form), WITHOUT identifying himself as a citizen.

Anyone who wants to vote doesn’t have to show a picture ID at the polling place.

And word has it that legislation for "same day" voter registration, negating the traditional waiting period, may soon be approved.

All one has to do is just show up at a polling place and request a PROVISIONAL BALLOT. It’s as easy as that to rig an election. And don’t think for a minute that Davis and cryptkeeper Garry South aren’t working out the logistics. And when they lose the election, watch for the same type of chaos and disputes that have plagued Florida.

You see, that’s the trick. Democrats aren’t supposed to lose elections, and when they do, they accuse Republicans of using dogs and fire hoses to prevent people from voting and making everyone too stupid to figure out a ballot.

Two bills await the governor’s signature. AB60 that would grant driver's licenses to 1 million illegal aliens, and companion SB804 that would require a background check to obtain the driver's license. Both were expected to be signed today.

Record-Breaking Fundraising Designed to Buy Election

Pundits, political analysts reporters and the like have pondered why Davis continues to raise all that money when he has so much in the bank already. It’s street money, folks. Get a clue!

Davis knows that the odds are now against him. All that money he has raised won’t go to fund "hit" ads. It will filter out as "street money," money that will be used to buy votes, get bums, drunks, drug addicts, hookers and homeless people to take $10 or a carton of cigarettes to vote for Davis. Be rest assured, these grateful recipients will be able to figure out the ballot no matter how inebriated.

How the Simon team will deal with it is up to them.

One other word on immigration. Wouldn’t a real press discuss the patent hypocrisy of President Fox of Mexico on the one hand demanding the U.S. give amnesty (excuse me, he’s been forbidden from using the term) to 3 million "undocumented workers" while in fact Mexico deals with illegal immigration in the harshest terms imaginable.

You didn’t know that Mexico guards is southern borders ruthlessly, routinely jailing and deporting thousands of Guatemalans? That’s a fact you won’t find in the American "free" press.

Cultural and Family Values According to Gray Davis

The rancidness of Davis TV ads place him in a deceptive league of his own. Revolving around the theme of "Experience We Trust, Values We Share," an interested observer has to ask: What experience? Turning a $10 billion surplus into a $24 billion deficit in three years? Making most businesses want to escape to Nevada? Adding 45,000 state employees doing God knows what?

And values? Does Davis have any, other than raising mountains of cash?

This governor’s so-called values denigrate the family and disparage business, while morphing and redefining instinctive common sense life experiences into the "progressive" conclusion that these behaviors are somehow "insensitive" and "hateful." This appeases the ACLU and other leftist tyrants under the pathetic guise of "tolerance" and "diversity."

The following are "divisive" conditions according to Davis and his staff (I’m not making this up):

So, did he sign them yet? I couldn't find any news about them today, and today is the last day for him to sign/veto AB60.

"If you can still pull the lever for Davis despite his atrocious record, then you too are a true liberal, living in a utopian land of make-believe, a world as you?d like it to be, rather than in the world as it is."

Barbra Streisand on line 2 for you, Gov. Davis.

The last poll I saw ( a month or so ago) had Simon down some 12 points because of his business scandals. What are the latest polls now?

That's what Proposition 52 does. Vote NO on 52!

That's what I thought. It's hard to imagine Simon winning anything because of the financial schandals. Republicans conceeded the race when they nominated Simon. Almost anyone could beeat Davis except Simon.

I just checked my closing statement for my old house (sold in Spring 02). There was no sales tax listed.

If I remember correctly, Simon is down about 7-8% in Democrat leaning polls. Simon is still alive.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the Amperican people nor the ability of the Democrats to rig an election.

It is not law yet, but it's one of the proposals to pay for the deficit Davis and the democrats engineered after they bloated our budget 35%. We have a projected deficit of $50-70 billion for the next five years, and unless the budgets are cut drastically, we'll have all sorts of "creative" new taxes.

Most votes for Davis will be anti-Simon votes and most votes for Simon will an anti-Davis votes. The attack ads proliferate.

Just heard on the radio, Davis will not sign it. He cited his "security concerns" with the bill.

That's what I thought. It's hard to imagine Simon winning anything because of the financial schandals. Republicans conceeded the race when they nominated Simon. Almost anyone could beeat Davis except Simon.

The so-called "scandal," or, more accurately, the oveturned jury finding in the civil suit against investors in Pacific Coin, vindicated William E Simon and Sons and the other investor. The former drug dealer (Hindelang) had to pay the Simon & Sons investment firm.

Davis has never gone about 50% approval, and is usually near or below 40%, despite millions of dollars spent on advertising and a complicit media. Californians hate him, and nobody wants to have a bumper sticker or yard sign supporting him around here. Simon is really charming and has a better vision for California. As more Californians get to know Simon, they like him better.

Great news, and thanks for telling me! But, why did he wait until the last day to say so? Weighing the polls and calculating how that would affect his reelection attempt?
