Sacramento -- A group of Democratic Latino lawmakers rejected an endorsement of Gov. Gray Davis' re-election campaign Friday, angered about the governor's veto of a measure that would have allowed illegal immigrants to get a driver's license.

The decision by the Legislative Latino Caucus was a blow to the Davis campaign, which has relied on strong support from the traditionally Democratic Latino community. The caucus, which ostensibly represents the state's 22 Latino Democratic lawmakers, voted four years ago to endorse Davis.

Question - Illegal immigrants, are by definition, are not citizens.

Why do these politicians put the interest of non-citizens ahead of citizens?

State Sen. Deborah Ortiz, D-Sacramento, said she wants to see how the governor's veto of the driver's license bill is perceived in her district before she decides.

Another good find John, keep it up.

I wonder what the ramifications are going to be for vetoing this, these latino activists stick togeather like glue. Just another special interest for dAvis to suck up to.

These series of gubernatorial vetos may well be the most meaningful contribution that Simon makes to California politics. I doubt any of the other candidates could have forced Davis to abandon the fringe left for a time.

If Simon accomplishes no more than to force these vetos I am appreciative of his contribution.

Facilitating criminal behaviour is wrong. Allowing illegal criminal aliens to have a driver's license is wrong.

Bully for Gray Davis.

[Hard to believe I, a hard-core Pubbie, would post such a thing.]
