SACRAMENTO(AP) - Gov. Gray Davis has been named policy leader of the year by a national education advocacy group, his office announced Friday.
The National Association of State Boards of Education picked Davis because he has made education a top priority during his first term in office, according to a written statement from the nonprofit group's executive, Brenda Welburn.

First Carter gets the Nobel prize for idiocy. Now Davis gets this. What's next, Klintoon getting the JFK award for moral purity?

These people are nuts!
California schools have gone downhill to where they are now ranked next to last in the country.
Flushing money down a toilet doesn't do anything to make the toilet function better!

The NAACP is going to honor Senator KKK Robert Byrd.

I'm so convinced that California Government Schools are damaged beyond repair, that I vote no on all school bond measures and leave the ballot blank in school board races.

"Gray Davis of California wins national education policy award"Of course he does, and just in time for the election in November. Not so close to Nov. 5th. to be obvious, yet not so far away as to have gone stale.

Precisely. Of course, it's just a coincidence that he wins this while he's in the political fight of his life. It's a coincidence that he's a liberal Democrat. It's a coincidence that the NEA owns the Dems along with the NAACP, labor unions, and trial lawyers.
Pure coincidence.

He won an education award? BWAHAHAHAHA!
Maybe its because he taught everyone around him what not to do when your state is in an energy crises, LOL!!!
I can see it now, their giving him the award, and the lights go out!

California's scores on standardized tests that rank its students in relation to those in other states have increased for four years in a row. This is most likely to do with the abolition of bilihgual education, passed by ballot initiative over the objections of the educrat lobby.
And spending on K-12 education has risen by more than a third since Davis took became governor, his office said Friday.
This is most likely to do with mandated class size reduction, passed by ballot initiative at the behest of the educrat lobby. It screwed the schools in poor school districts and did next to nothing to improve school performance.

This is like giving Jimmy Carter the Nobel Peace Prize! They wouldn't stoop THAT low, would they? Oh. They already have.
This is how the leftists have gamed the system. Infiltrate and take over the institutions, and then use the institiutions to broadcast propaganda to suppoert their socialist agenda. What gets me is the blatant lies that they are able to get away with, what with the complicity of their sycophant friends in the mass media. Carter did absolutely nothing to ensure peace, in fact he made thinmgs far worse until the REAL peacemaker, Ronald Reagan came along. Of course Reagan gets no credit for ending thye cold war. That goes to lefty Gorbachev (who Reagan essentially pushed over a cliff). Similarly, Dufus of California does absolutely NOTHING to improve education while the spocialists who run the system are driving it into the groubd. Yet Dufus gets praise from the socialists. And just in time to remind the sheeple of who they shouild vote for. We live in a fantasy construcvtion of the left. They say the opposite of what is true and they are believed by 50% of the polulation. Beam me up, Scotty! This planet is a mess!

"Governor Davis "has made education a top priority.""
His top priority towards education has been to back the NEA 100%.
Everything he has done "for" education has been counterproductive and in the negative.
The real question should be, did they just name a handfull of Republicans that were a minority of that awarding committee that were against his nomination just to give Davis good press?
