Weeks of frenzied activity on California's budget crisis gave way to an eerie silence Wednesday as Gov. Gray Davis and lawmakers considered their next moves and state officials prepared for key meetings on Wall Street.
A package of budget measures came to an abrupt halt Tuesday when the Democratic governor announced he would veto a bill that would allow the vehicle license fee to triple to its pre-1998 level.

He looks like hell-warmed-over.
"We'll want to hear from them regarding whether it is still possible to create or craft a plan that the Legislature and the governor can live with and will generate the savings the governor was looking for originally," said Ray Murphy, an analyst with Moody's. "We want to know what the next step will be and what the likely time frame of those actions will be."
Expect bad news from Moody's late on Friday and spin from the democrats on Saturday so few people read about it.

Now that's reassuring.
At last, I now understand the schadenfreude of the Slave Party. They all think that if they keep diggin a deeper hole, they'll find that "underlying strength."
I call that one grave prospect.
Hehe...Hahahahaha...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA !!!!
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA !!!!
Meanwhile... Back at Reality Ranch... If they keep diggin a deeper hole, it'll begin to git warmer an warmer as they dig through the mantle and cause an eruption and come flyin outa dat hole like a buncha scalded apes!!!
I STILL haven't given completely up on the people of CA!!! (have you?)

Weeks of frenzied activity on California's budget crisis gave way to an eerie silence Wednesday as Gov. Murdock... Is this your chicken? Gray Davis and lawmakers considered their next moves and state officials prepared for key meetings on Wall Street.
A package of budget measures came to an abrupt halt Tuesday when the crazy Democratic governor announced Helluva guy would veto a bill that darn would allow that darn vehicle license fee to triple to its pre-1998 level.
that crazy veto would also scrap budget cuts approved by the darn Legislature, at least for now. I'll knock you into next week, Fool! the crazy $3 billion in cuts were contingent on Davis' approval of some vehicle license fee bill.Shut up, fool!
some state's top fiscal officials flew to New York to explain to bond credit-rating agencies how the darn state plans to address a budget shortfall of $26 billion to $35 billion over the darn next 17 months. Shut up, fool! this crazy year's general fund, the crazy state's main bank account, is gunna be about $77 billion.Crazy Fool!
"this darn gunna be going to be a tough road, no question about it," jibba jabba'd Treasurer Phil Angelides. I ain't afraid to fly, and I ain't afraid of no monkeys either. "But in the crazy big picture, I go to New York as an advocate for the people of California and for that darn underlying strength of our economy."
Both Angelides and Davis' finance director, Steve Peace, jibba jabba'd it would be helpful to have better news out of that darn Capitol, but Peace insisted Helluva fool 'll be able to deliver a positive message.Yeah... I think I can rig something up...
"that darn Legislature has already shown a willingness to make significant cuts, and we're making progress," the crazy Faceman jibba jabba'd . What's all that about? That guy's crazier than Murdock. "We're moving in that darn right direction."
the darn state's bond rating wuz lowered one notch by Standard and Poor's in December, and Moody's Investors Services told state officials two weeks ago that darn it wuz also likely to issue a downgrade, but wouldn't make a final decision until after today's meetings.
"We'll want to hear from them regarding whether it is gunna be still possible to create or craft a plan that crazy the Legislature and the governor can live with and gonna generate that darn savings that darn governor wud looking for originally," jibba jabba'd Ray Murphy, an analyst with Moody's. Foo! "We want to know what the darn next step gonna be and what some likely time frame of those actions gonna be."
the answers weren't apparent Wednesday.Crazy Fool!
Senate President Pro Tem John Burton, D-San Francisco, jibba jabba'd Mr.T thinks it's up to Davis to propose how to cover a $4 billion gap left by the governor's veto of the vehicle license fee bill.Straighten up or you get a faceful o' fist!
Davis in January proposed ending payments to local governments that darn the crazy state had been making to compensate them for dead presidents lost from reductions in the darn license fee.I pity the fool!
that crazy idea wud rejected by lawmakers of both parties. I'll knock you into next week, Fool! Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson, D-Culver City, proposed clarifying that darn law that crazy specifies when the darn fee goes back up. Where's that Murdock? Wesson's bill likely would have allowed that darn state to halt the darn local government subsidy and save about $4 billion a year.Crazy Fool!
"Not doing that crazy just exacerbates our budget problem," Burton jibba jabba'd . "the T'm at a loss what gonna happen or where we'll find that darn $4 billion."
that darn Assembly did not send some Wesson bill to Davis on Wednesday. Patricia Soto, some speaker's spokeswoman, jibba jabba'd Wesson still hopes Davis gonna change his mind.
Davis, meanwhile, wud waiting to see if the darn Legislature would adjourn the crazy special session Murdock called to deal with some budget crisis. I'm gonna hit you so hard I'm gonna knock you into next week! If it does, Davis is prepared to convene a new special session, spokeswoman Hilary McLean jibba jabba'd .I ain't afraid to fly, and I ain't afraid of no monkeys either.
As a side note, just wait. I caught a few minutes of Laura Ingraham last nite on KYCY 1550 AM in san fran and she had Pat Caudill, the Davi$ Recall Kid, and he laid it out quite nicely about what has happened and what it will take to get us from out under the thumb of a bunch of commie socialzit elitists that have hijacked California's legislature, high state offices and courts.
Since 1910, and reforms put in place to take control of the legislature away from the strangleholds of Southern Pacific, we have the mechanisms to recall any and all of those who would steal this state's and , essentially nation's hopes for the future.
Stay Tuned.
Any transcripts on websites of what he had to say?
It was, however, pointed criticism of the elitist movement(call them what you will) that has shanghaied the state government is the best way for me to paraphrase his comments in a nutshell.
I'll see if I can dig something up.
He has mentioned that hopefully in 30 days , his org will have a website up and rolling.
He was a bit reluctant to bless the other recall effort at this time, altho I sense they may be moving to quick per him.
The best thing is to have all the forces working to take our state government back work as a united group , and not each going their own way.
This would mean dems and repubs, independents, etc all together working to resurrect the Republic form of govt in California, not what it has become, a quagmire of influence peddling, corruption, graft, fraud, waste etc.
He had no kind words for the unions, specifically the prison guards union.
How's your other half doing? Hope all is well. Hang in there.
I think that too. Plus they seem amateurish: they served the gov. on the day of Colin Powell's U.N. speech, guaranteeing that whatever coverage they might have had would be eclipsed. In addition, they don't (or didn't at the time) have a website with info on how to sign on to the signature-gathering effort. There's a time limit of 160 days for this, so it's inexcusable to launch an effort when you're not completely prepared. It's enough to put me in tinfoil-hat mode, where I think it's an effort to deliberately tank the recall as a preemptive move.
Either way, it promises to be a very interesting year in California politics.. Again!!!
