GOP wishy-washy on Mitt Romney support
The Boston Herald ^ | July 10, 2010 | Hillary Chabot

Posted on 07/10/2010 8:02:11 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney, who’s campaigned hard for Republicans across the country as he eyes a presidential run in 2012, earned high praise but couldn’t secure a solid endorsement from some GOP governors yesterday.

“I think he’s going to be one of several people that are going to be seriously considered for the nomination,” said Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who was recently elected after Romney helped his campaign. “He’s an incredibly talented spokesman for the conservative cause.”

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist declined to comment on Romney’s 2012 chances yesterday, saying he’s too busy running his own state.

Crist is one of several rumored GOP challengers also eyeing a run for the White House in 2012, along with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

“It remains to be seen, simply because I don’t think all the potential challengers are a known quantity yet,” said South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds. “I think he’s a very strong contender in the future.”

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer also declined to officially back Romney, but called him “a very qualified candidate.”

“He certainly is well respected in the state of Arizona, and we’ll look and see what happens in that upcoming election,” Brewer said.

Romney hasn’t officially announced he’ll make a second try at the White House, instead saying he’s focused on the midterm elections in Congress. He said he’ll make a decision after Nov. 2.

While Republican governors may not be firmly behind Romney, Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, said Romney has strong support in his home state.

“He certainly seems to have some popularity in Tennessee - some of the key Republicans have been supporting him, and I suspect in the primary here he’ll end up doing well,” Bredesen said.

If Romney gets the nomination, I will oppose him unrelentingly and with a good heart, the same as I do every other socialist candidate. McCain included.

I am a conservative, not a Republican.

It’s odd how “wishy-washy” and “Mitt Romney” seem to go so well together . . .

However, I think the guy would make a perfect high-level Cabinet appointee in President Palin’s Administration starting in 2013 . . . Secretary of Commerce, perhaps?

3 things will keep Romney out of the nominatio: Romney-care, past abortion stance and past gay rights stance.

Also - Romney is no threat in TN. Huckabee and Palin are 2 big players there.

"~Michael Reagan, radio host and adopted son of President Ronald Reagan."

How damn ignorant can you possibly be?

Michael Reagan is more like his Dad than biological embarrassment Ronald P.

Get real, org.whodat!

There actually are two:

Gov. Sarah Palin and Lt. Col. Alan West. If you don’t know the second name, google it and watch the youtubes.

Never thought I’d say this, but they have left me, not the other way around.

F#CK the NRA. Right straight to ####. Even if they come around and support Angel, they are no better than the Brady Campaign and the VPC to me. The have betrayed me. Again, #### them. I forgave their reluctance to support the Keller case. They were all but useless in the McDonald case. But even flirting with endorsing Reid is a bridge too far.

Again, #### the NRA.

—a FORMER life member of the useless NRA

PS No, I’m not saying what I really feel. This is WAY toned down out of respect for this site.

With Romney many of the "endorsements" are fake.

One doubts the fawning reporter would separate real from phoney.

Romney lies about endorsements.

Typical Romney falsehood: "I also was pleased to have the support of the NRA when I ran for governor."

Typical Romney falsehood: "I told you what my position was, and what I, what I did as governor; the fact that I received the endorsement of the NRA."

The truth:

Romney: "“That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA
Boston Herald (1994)

Romney: " “I don’t line up with the NRA.
Boston Globe, January 14, 2007

More Truth about Romney faking endorsements:

"Behind the empty gestures and deceptive rhetoric, Romney was not pro-life
or a defender of marriage by any stretch of the imagination.
He was a disaster," said O'Gorman, of the board for Massachusetts Citizens for Life.
He said Romney "deceptively" claims to have been awarded
a pro-life award from the group.

"The award Romney arranged for himself with the local Pioneer Valley Chapter
was the Mullins Award for Political Leadership, not a pro-life award
and not approved by MCFL's state board of directors," he said.
"We're blowing the whistle to warn voters…
"

[Family leaders call Romney 'disaster' - Letter criticizes 'deceptive rhetoric' around candidate]

Myth Romney, plagiarist, taking credit for Duncan Hunter's fence, without attribution.

Didn’t he also hold a world-class dog show on the roof of his station wagon?

At least he didn’t have a daughter in law who couldn’t keep her legs closed before marriage and got pregnant at an appropriate age. You bash Romney for something stupid you are getting it back. I am sick and tired of Romney bashing and Saint Sarah could not even complete one term as Governor because she was picked on...boo hoo. He gets bashed too. Romney gets bashed more than Sarah by far and seems to handle it in an adult fashion and does not cry on Facebook. So there.

She is McCain lover. She is fully supporting him in his quest for another Senate run. She is far from conservative. If you support RINO’s you cannot be conservative. I will not support her nomination if she were to win as she is a fake conservative like McCain.
