On ‘Late Night,’ Christie Rolls Eyes at Prospect of Palin Presidency
The Wall Street Journal' s Metropolis ^ | November 23, 2010 | Lisa Fleisher

Faced with the prospect of a President Sarah Palin, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the Republican party’s darling from another coast, shook his head and rolled his eyes.

“I don’t know, but it’s an amazing world,” he said to Jimmy Fallon during a taping of Tuesday’s Late Night show.

Christie brought his sharp tongue to the talk show Tuesday after the two traded barbs over Twitter when the Republican governor canceled a long-planned Hudson River train tunnel.

Fallon had joked that New Yorkers would now have to get to New Jersey as they usually do — by accident.

“You think it’s funny, Jimmy?” Christie challenged Fallon on the show, which airs at 12:35 a.m. “You know what we do to people like that in Jersey?”

Christie, known by Trenton insiders for his wit and occasionally foul language, turned serious and said New Jersey shouldn’t have to pay for the tunnel while New York stands idly by.

“There’s nothing New Jersey hates more than getting screwed by New York,” he said....

I've had the owner of the company where I work tell me that she's had complaints about my political beliefs. Lucky for me I get along very well with the owner. One time, I was out on break with my supervisor, a young college graduate, and the discussion turned to politics. He was proud to announce that he wrote a thesis on the Patriot Act and proceeded to elaborate to me how it supposedly violated peoples rights. I asked him to demonstrate it by giving me one example where it did violate someone's rights. After avoiding the question several times he finally admitted that he couldn't offer any examples. Our relationship hasn't been the same since then.

One of the guys I work with likes to listen to conservative talk radio also. He's told me that every once in a while, someone will come over and change the channel on his radio, because they don't like what he's listening to. They don't ask him...they'll just come right over and change it.

He is anti gun too. He is a HUGE Springsteen fan - like rabid aka which means he is an idiot. Springsteen’s songs are incredibly shallow and childish.

Yeah sure, that’s why he endorsed Mike Castle in DE. He’s a RINO for the most part.

(from the New Yorker)

He declined Palin’s offer to stump for him—have endeared him to members of the GOP’s sane wing. ‘The breakthrough he’s scoring in New Jersey is hugely promising,’ says David Frum, a conservative writer who fears that the Republican Party is being swallowed by the tea party.

“Christie is also moderate enough that they know he will not be easily consigned to the Tea Party tea chest when the going gets rough if he decided to run.

He will be an instant loser if he runs for Pres. Having Frum and the New Yorker in your hip pocket is poison to the right. He will lose the South. Lose the South West where immigration is an issue. Lose the bible belt. He doesn’t even show up on the radar for Pres hopefuls.
This hole issue is moot. He should focus on saving NJ instead of screwing around. Results matter. And getting into bed with Mayor Bloomberg for some expensive subway dig isn’t one of them.

Come on. Being a fellow PA’r, you have to look around and wonder what going on here. Today alone the legislature, Gov. and other Grandees in the state got a pay raise. In this economy. After promising to clean up Harrisburg.

Pretty mild stuff. That said, I’d think these politicians would learn from Joe Miller that you should go out of your way not to diss Palin. Miller tried to nuance the question as well and it did him only harm.

Now we have reports on people rolling their eyes?

Man, what petty crap. Palin doesn’t let any of these people get to her, yet her fans freak out over any kind of criticism.

Whatever happened to the conservatives who held up such models as Reagan? You know—adults.

For those who shout “Troll!” like Donald Sutherland hissing at the end of Body Snatchers, this isn’t a criticism of Palin, who has acted nobly and more adult than anyone who’s ever had to endure the kind of crap slung at her. It’s about the cult of personality of her worshippers—and that’s what some people are.

Man, I’ve been coming here for nine years, under this and a previous name (deleted it for too many pings). I never thought I’d leave this way.

I know these comments won’t please you, 2nd DV because you’re a loyal Palin fan, but since you’re such an incredible poster here. I’m glad to post for the last time to one of your threads.

I’ll be voting for Palin should she run, in the primary first. But man, her superfans have no right to complain about the Obama Messiah crowd—we’ve got our own on the right—or to accuse libs of being whiney, bitchy girlymen who shriek at any opinion they don’t like.

Bye.

So what. I roll my eyes when Palin speaks, that voice is grating. As far as policy goes, her best moment was the “death panels” comment, but I’m tired of the constant Facebooking and Tweeting. She needs to go on vacation for a few months.
