According to the 2010 Census, the Hispanic population in the United States increased by 43 percent over the last ten years, leaving the final tally for the largest minority group in America at 50.5 million people.
That being said, the Democratic Party may not be the demographics forever favorite. A Zogby poll conducted in 2009 surveyed Hispanic members of religious denominations and found that a majority of likely Hispanic voters believe that illegal immigration is too high, and results from inadequate enforcement.
Their voices were heard the following year in a CNN Exit poll, where 38 percent of Hispanics reportedly voted Republican in the 2010 Congressional elections, and resulted in more Republican Hispanics elections to office, including Susana Martinez governor of New Mexico, Brian Sandoval governor of Nevada and Marco Rubio to the U.S. Senate from Florida. Bill Flores and Francisco Canseco of Texas, Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington, Raul Labrador of Idaho and David Rivera of Florida were voted into the House of Representatives in the same election as pro-enforcement Hispanics.
In an opinion article from POLITICO, House Judiciary Committee chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) expanded on the consequences for the Republican Party concerning the growing Hispanic populations and recent Congressional elections, where he wrote, How did Republican candidates appeal to Hispanic voters? They focused on the fundamental values of patriotism, rule of law, freedom, family, support for small businesses, jobs and education. The pro-enforcement movement is not anti-Hispanic; it is pro-rule-of-law. Time and again, American voters including Hispanics have defeated amnesty attempts, including the 2007 comprehensive immigration reform legislation. Contrary to the claims made by some, the record shows that Republicans will continue to attract Hispanic voters, and more Republican Hispanic candidates will be elected to public office. Perhaps thats what really worries some of the critics.
I am originally from NYC.
I can tell you: The Colombians don’t like the Mexicans. The Mexicans don’t like the Hondurans. The Hondurans don’t like the Venezuelans. The Venezuelans don’t like the Chileans. The Chileans don’t like the Brazilians. The Brazilians don’t like the Argentinians...
That cannot be. The MSM tells us constantly that the hispanics are a monolithic group of radical leftists, all thinking in lockstep.
Why in the world would an Hispanic who came here legally, waited his turn, or got a green card, and went through the process necessary to gain citizenship, support and welcome those who want to by-pass and subvert that process.
Immigration is perfectly fine, and immigrants are welcome in this country, just follow the rules. It’s time consuming and doesn’t come easily, but it can be done.
Huh?
So the Grand Old Party (or members thereof) are "Immigrants?"
And the Hispanics could care less of this occurrence?
Regardless of this misleading--and poorly drafted--headline, in a few decades, this will probably come to pass when Hispanics will be in the majority (and no doubt the Mooselimbs a close second) and thereafter, this Great Republic will never be the same.
Glad I won't be around--as I doubt I'll live to 97--to see travesty!!!
My Puerto Rican friend told me that he was pissed that hey became the minority. But he is more scared of the Albanians than the Chileans! Asked him why, he said because they are white! n/s
My son goes to school and is pals with legal hispanics. Wow! They certainly are not shy about their display of disdain towards the illegal ones. Their families did it the right way and they have absolutely no tolerance for anyone who does it illegally.
It's amazing, isn't it? My wife is Colombian and we know folks from all over the islands and South America.
Argentinians in my experience don't like anyone.
And all our Latino friends don't like Mexicans. They don't even consider them Latino. The women have the harshest opinions and look down on their men with revulsion.
It's quite a thing to see come out at a party in conversation. Out here in particular, as they don't even care if there might be Mexicans nearby who can hear them.
And there’s always the universal maxim that once you and your family has got yours, you’re not going to be worried about every other Pedro coming across the border trying to get theirs. You might not even want that to happen so they don’t take yours. I don’t think even the average Mexican believes in trying to conquer America thru immigration and hopes all his countrymen flood in to help with that.
Most non-Mexican hispanics I’ve known and known of emphatically state that the Mexicans are the white trash equivalent of the Latino world. It’s not a hate thing, more of an ewww thing for them, as if they are unclean lepers. Most white people aren’t even that prejudiced. Wow.
Illegals don’t vote. Only citizens do. The Hispanic American Citizens have vastly different opinions about borders and illegal immigration than illegals. It makes no sense to pander to non voters.
They're rioting in Africa
They're starving Spain
There's hurricanes in Florida
And Texas needs rain!
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls
The French the Germans; the Germans hate the Poles
Italians hate Yugoslavs; South Africans hate the Dutch
And I don't like anyone very much...
But we can be thankful, and tranquil and proud
For man's been endowed with a mushroom shaped cloud...
And we can be certain that some lovely day
Someone will the spark off...
And we shall all be blown away.
They're starving in Africa
There's strife in Iran
What Nature doesn't to do to us...
Will be done by our fellow man!
Ping!
What planet do you live on? They do indeed vote. They even have their own people in congress. Tuscon and Anaheim were, once upon a time, fairly conservative areas.
And that which comes too easily is valued less.
Actually, this is from accumulated experience, but finally confirmed by an old GF who explained "No really, we don't like them...any of them..." - LOL!
That’s pretty funny. Well, at least they’re honest!
