President Obama and his Republican opponent may have some tough competition from a third party in 2012.
A nonpartisan group says its gathered millions of signatures along with millions of dollars from voters unhappy with Washington.
The group, called Americans Elect, is creating an internet-based third party where voters will choose someone to run in next years election. So far, the site has more than 1.9 million signatures and raised almost $22 million.

It’s quite leftist. I’ve taken their “surveys” just for sh*ts and giggles. It tells you what answer was most popular by state and the overall results of each answer. I usually answered one of the least popular ones, except on a couple where I take a more libertarian standpoint.
I say bring it, because any candidate this group dredges up will run to the left, and split Obama’s votes much more than the GOP candidate.

It’s 1992 all over again. Unless this is one of those “once a century” elections, the only thing a 3rd party run ensures is the election of the incumbent/media candidate. A 2nd term of Obama.

A similar effort was launched in 2008. AFAIK they never nominated anyone. Interest just fizzled after the initial announcement.

It’s a pretty left-wing group. Their being hyped by Thomas Friedman. I don’t see many Republicans voting for this.
This will appeal to the squishy middle. Perhaps Peggy Noonan will go along with it too.

Otherwise known as a spoiler. The likelyhood is that they will spoil things for the Marxists. Too bad, sooo sad.

RR - I took the survey as well. 200+ lib stances with loaded multiple choice questions. Kinda like "When was the last time you beat your wife
I was proud to rank in the bottom 1%! This is a Boot Obama / Draft Hill tank. It's worth looking at if for no other reason than to glean what the 4th parties are up to.
Of course we could Freep It and real blow their platform!
