Perry's final days?
The Brainerd Dispatch / The Washington Post ^ | December 29, 2011

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is pretty much done for if he finishes too poorly in Iowa, where he has spent far and away the most of any candidate. Politico’s Mike Allen reports that “Rick Perry is the king of the airwaves,” having spent about $2.9 million on ads in December alone. His super PAC has spent an additional $1.3 million.

Yet in the CNN-Opinion Research poll released Wednesday, Perry is in fifth place in Iowa at 11 percent. In RealClearPolitics’ average of Iowa polls, Perry is in fourth, with 12 percent.

Perry’s days are numbered if he spends more than $4 million in ads alone in a rural state where Christian conservatives play a strong role, only to come in fourth or fifth. Unlike Rep. Ron Paul, who has a rabid fan base to keep him going, or Rick Santorum, who is on the upswing, it’s hard to see the rationale or the means by which Perry could keep going after such a disappointing result.

After his big entry into the race, Perry made a series of errors from which he’s never recovered...

They'll go anywhere and do anything to insult Gov. Sarah Palin. Why is that?

I’ve wondered if Perry would be able to make it out of Iowa. What kind of shape will his bank be after Iowa? If he doesn’t make it out of Iowa, where does his support go? Would he endorse? Who?

LOL!
Perry may not make it to the nomination, but it is folly to think he won’t make it out of Iowa!!! LOL

He is in till FLA at the least.

Seems to me they are beating up Perry, and rather unfairly.
They took a shot at Palin for giggles, that shows you who hates Perry.
The same folks that hated Palin.

This is the biggest political hit piece I have seen in a while.

Pure clap trap.

And you are shocked that they hit Sarah too?

I feel for Perry. His debates have improved, I like his ads and also think he’s a good guy. I’d much rather see him getting the support instead of Mittens or RuPaul and have the “two person race” be between him and Newt.

This is a repeat of when FOX reported Fred was done after IA back in 2008.

I looked up the article at WaPo. It’s authored by Jennifer Rubin, one of their supposedly “conservative” writers.

Fred wasn’t their annoited, neither is Rick. They will do whatever they need to do to get Milt the nomination, so that Barry can beat him like a rented mule.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Perry but never hated him. I just think he is a good exhibit for those who wonder why we have such long campaigns. He made all of his mistakes in prime time.

to be fair, if he does finish 5th in IA, that doesn’t really augur well going forward. it may be harsh but it is what it is. 5th place in IA followed by dead last in NH would pretty much be the end, to quote Jim Morrison.

Jennifer Rubin has no credibility with me. All she is, is a pimp for the RINO establishment. No one vote has been cast yet and they are trying to write off Perry. Just pure nonsense. That said GO NEWT!

I always expected Palin to endorse Perry AGAIN (as she did in 2010). It would have helped Perry tremendously.

But Sarah sadly had other plans. And Perry is now pretty much toast EVEN if she woke up and endorsed him this weekend..

I hope he does the RIGHT thing which is to endorse and raise funds for NEWT.
