STATE OF HAWAII ORGANIZATION OF POLICE OFFICERS (SHOPO) ENDORSES LINDA LINGLE FOR U.S. SENATE

HONOLULU - Joined by the Board of Directors of the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO), President Tenari Ma'afala announced today that Hawaii's police officers' union is endorsing former Governor Linda Lingle in her bid for Hawaii's open U.S. Senate seat.

"Governor Lingle has always had our police officers in her heart, and she advocated for us in every leadership position she has held - from Maui's Mayor to Hawaii's Governor. We know she will represent Hawaii's police officers and our brethren across the country well when we elect her to serve in Washington, D.C.," said SHOPO President, Tenari Ma'afala. "This is not just an endorsement. It is a full-on commitment from us to play a major role in Gov. Lingle's campaign for the next 10 months," Ma'afala added.

"Having the backing and support of 'Hawaii's Finest' has been a true honor for me since SHOPO's first endorsement of my campaigns in 2002. As Governor, my top priority for the state was the safety of the public. I could always count on our outstanding uniformed officers, who put their lives on the line every single day, to share the same commitment to keeping all the people of Hawaii safe. The SHOPO members and their families have always been, and will continue to be, part of my extended 'ohana. I am extremely humbled by today's endorsement, and will always honor the faith SHOPO has shown in me by putting Hawaii's 'people first,'" said Governor Linda Lingle.

SHOPO previously endorsed Governor Lingle in her gubernatorial campaign in 2002 and her re-election campaign in 2006.

To personally express her appreciation to the union members for their support, Governor Lingle will travel throughout the state this week to visit with police officers at all of the SHOPO chapters including Maui, Hawaii Island and Kauai.

SHOPO was formed in 1971 and is an independent, non-affiliated union for police officers, and is the only law enforcement union in the state.

I believe they always endorsed Lingle in her previous campaigns. Not sure yet who’s gonna be the candidate on the Dhim side. If it’s Rep. Mazie Hirono, it’s gonna be a rematch. Lingle defeated Hirono for her first term (no legitimate Dhim dared to challenge Lingle for the second term). If Ed Case (former US Rep. whose seat was vacant when he ran for senate but lost) also runs in the Democrats’ primary, then it’ll be completely deja vu. Hopefully it’s gonna be a total repeat (with Lingle winning again).

Isn’t she the one that went along with the coverup for Obama?

Is she Scott Brown in drag? Or is she conservative? ;-)

isn’t it interesting that this same union refused to endorse Duke Aiona in 2010 , endorsing Neil the schlemiel instead .
That really broke Duke’s heart . He felt if any union in the State owed him their endorsement it was SHOPO , as he’d supported them as a judge for many years . And they stabbed him in the back . Their endorsement reeks of hypocrisy and makes me wonder about Lingle as well , who did next to nothing to help Aiona defeat Abercrombie .

Good heavens! There is NO cover up. Get over it. And, btw, that story you vaguely refer to was about current governor Neil Abercrombie.

Give Lingle a chance. She will disappoint like Scott Brown but she will hopefully exhibit a Profile in Courage once or twice with her votes. Scott Brown doesn’t deserve a full 6 year term.
As for the Police Union endorsement it was the Fraternal Order of Police that endorsed Clinton over Dole in 96’. Nuff said.

She is a RINO. Another companion for Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe. The HI seat is an (R) pick-up, but not a conservative pick-up as she will keep any conservative movement needing 60 votes in the Senate in check.

Prepare to be disappointeed. Of course, she is elevated because “she can win”, just like the morons supporting a certain GOP Presidential Candidate John Kerry Jr.

Lingle defended Palin. Hawaii is a very liberal, democratic state. No pun intended, but it would be great to establish a “beach head” there and try to push the state towards the right. It takes time and patience. Just my opinion. We had a good GOP member named Charles Djon or Dijon in the House of Reps who had won in a three way race and then lost in 2010.

You are full of it. There was a story about her and you know it. And quit lecturing like the pig you are. If we had more honest politicians we would be better off and not have need of little kiss their butt toadies like you and might have the choice of someone telling the truth.

Lingle is the best Hawaii can produce. She will be a breath of fresh air compared to a rat. She will disappoint for sure especially on social issues. At least we will have a chance with Lingle. Scott Brown has some disappointing votes (especially on Dodd-Frank) but his voting record is much different that Martha Coakley would have produced. We need control of the Senate. She will go a long way towards helping gain control of the Senate.

Lingle has something Hirono does not - A brain.

The tall one is definitely not a conservative, but is probably the best we can hope for from Hawaii.

You're right they endorsed her in '02 and '06 - but get this, they endorsed Dem. Sen. Akaka previously too, when he was running for Senate in Hawaii --- so her getting their endorsement wasn't ENTIRELY a shoe-in. Don't forget to "like" the campaign facebook page. Every bit helps! www.facebook.com/lingle2012.com

She's certainly not a rock-ribbed conservative, but she's the best candidate Republicans have in Hawaii, and will be a really solid Senator, because she's got common-sense, practical approach to problems, proven record of success in working across the aisle, fiscal discipline (she balanced a $2 BILLION budget gap without raising taxes!), and commitment and love for our armed forces. Go "like" her page if you're on Facebook! www.facebook.com/lingle2012.com

Lingle is definitely better than all the DemoRats put together. Hawaiian Democrats are up to their necks in corruption and GOv. Comrade Neil Abercrombie is playing ostrich because if he treated to clean things up, he wouldn’t have any major donors left who were not in jail.

I say, “Let’s Tingle for Lingle”, or “Lingle, not an Abercrombie Rat”
