Romney: 'If We Want to Get Rid of Obamacare, We're Going to Have to Replace President Obama'
The Weekly Standard ^ | June 28, 2012 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 06/28/2012 5:10:05 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney reacted to the Supreme Court's Obamacare decision by saying that, "if we want to get rid of Obamacare, we're going to have to replace President Obama."

"Let’s make clear that we understand what the Court did and did not do," Romney said today, speaking in Washington, D.C. "What the Court did today was say that Obamacare does not violate the Constitution. What they did not do was say that Obamacare is good law or that it's good policy."

Romney added: "Obamacare was bad policy yesterday. It's bad policy today. Obamacare was bad law yesterday. It’s bad law today."

This presidential election is "a choice," Romney said. "You can choose whether you want to have a larger and larger government, more and more intrusive in your life—separating you and your doctor—whether you're comfortable with more deficits, higher debt that we pass onto the coming generations. Whether you're willing to have the government put in place a plan that potentially causes you to lose the insurance that you like or whether instead you want to return to a time when the American people will have their own choice in healthcare. Where consumers will be able to make their choices as to what kind of health insurance they want."

"This is the time of choice for the American people," Romney said.

Romney concluded: "Help us. Help us defeat Obamacare. Help us defeat the liberal agenda that makes government too big, too intrusive, and is killing jobs across this great country."

Yes.

This idea of a political race between Obama and Mitt Romney running as opposites is surreal.

It’s gonna take more than just another president. We have to take the Senate and have 60 SOLID votes to repeal it.

We have WAY too many RINOS (including Romney) right now to even come close.

The only way out is to renounce U.S. citizenship and move to a free country.

Get used to Obamacare.

Any attempts to repeal will be killed by Democrats in the Senate.

So shut up, smile and pay your taxes. :)

I’m just curious: is this what you “moderates” wanted when you walked around lecturing conservatives in 2008?

>”We have to take the Senate and have 60 SOLID votes to repeal it”<

You only need 51 Senate Votes to repeal it in the Senate and a simple Majority in the House if Romney is President.

You need 67 Votes to overide an Obama Veto in the Senate and 2/3rds of the House.

The Filibuster Rule cannot be applied because of how Obamacare was originally passed using the Reconciliation Process.

Actions speak louder than words, the absolute first thing that mittens would have to do upon being elected, is to completely repeal obamanation care in its entirety. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening because of his past indiscretions with Massachusetts.

If you want the lower gas prices, lower oil prices, and lower energy prices necessary for a booming economy, you are going to have to get yourselves another President.

Time to stop being delusional about Washington DC doing anything other than continually growing the Federal Apparatus and taking more of the working mans cash and freedom to support itself.

The GOP has demonstrated when it was in control that it just redirects the money extorted on a slightly smaller scale from taxpayers to capitalists, as opposed to the Democrats who give ridiculous amounts of money that doesn't even exist to communists and morons in exchange for votes.

DC is the problem, never will be the solution.

Collapse and reset are inevitable.

“One day one he can cease the allocation of funds to the implementation. If Obama can decide to not enforce the law on the borders, Romney can decide to not enforce the law of Obamacare.”

That’s correct, what’s more is that an extra term of Obama means that he can easily appoint two more Supreme Court justices and make Obamacare unanimously constitutional.

It’s in any president’s authority to appoint Supreme Court Justices, and realizing how Roberts made that one little difference, think of what two more justices (7) would do.

What we really need is a house that has balls and will simply bring all business in the house to a total stop until the president and senate both sign a repeal.

A TOTAL stop. No laws, no continuations, appointments et all. That requires what we have at this moment, only with a sense of purpose and a loyalty to their country.

All the screaming in the media means nothing. All the screaming of the lib/Dems means nothing. The House controls the money. Period.

When the money runs out and no one gets a check, they have a choice. Stay broke and starve or pressure the Senate and President to repeal.

That’s how you play hardball if you value your country more than your job.

Unfortunately, I don't see that happening because of his past indiscretions with Massachusetts.

Apples and oranges. Romney's actions as Governor of Massachusetts comes nowhere close to this.

It may be difficult for hard core conservatives to do, but we all need to rally behind the party this time around and not allow minor differences in some policies overshadow the larger effort.

Romney has my vote, as does every Republican on the ticket... RINO or not. If we let our voices be heard loud and clear this November, the Congress and the President will not be able to repeal this thing fast enough.

And you know, if Romney breaks his promise to repeal ObamaCare then he becomes a one-term President.

This on is too important for ANY of us to sit at home this election.

What’s more is now Romney has to do exactly that on day one - cease the enforcement and implementation of Obamacare - because on the most important day of his campaign, the day everyone in the country was listening, he said that he would do that on his first day.

No President, particularly a Republican who won’t get any cover in the press, will break the most important promise of his campaign on his first day in office. Yeah, Romney is a politician who says what he thinks the voters want to hear. But he is not a stupid politician that commits willful political suicide on his first day in office.

Romney has also said that he’ll Repeal it on his first day in Office.

HOW? Without the super majorities in both houses that WE DON’T HAVE, (and even if we Get them this November they’ll need time to write the Repeal Bill for him to sign) the only gambit he’ll posses is Executive Order.

As horrifyingly destructive as PPACA is, and as much as we All want it Gone, do we Really want to get into Dueling Executive Orders of this magnitude?

We write them, They write them. And soon enough NOBODY even Cares about Congress any more because the Laws flow directly from the President’s daily whims.

ROMNEY, AS USUAL, IS COMPLETELY FULL OF IT.

Salve

I was about to write this in vanity, I decided to give you in response better.

While many run on emotions, and surely they are right to be upset of this, this battle might be lost, but war is still ongoing.

I would like to bring something to this equation, from different prospective.

I call it Avalanche scenario.

1. With this ruling, taxes will have to be raised in order to compensate for all the suppose services giving to those who can’t or will not be able to have Health proper insurance.

2. Problem – sole purposes of business is to make profit, if small businesses, and I would like to emphasize this can’t or will not be able to afford taxes, or will decide to pass those taxes on products which will be the case, costumers will be hit in their packet harder as will others, who believe in free trading of assets.

3. After while majority of people will left work force for reasons that if you make 1300$ a week or two weeks and your check after deduction of this expenditure comes to 700$ that person better and will move from be a producer to be on government sponsors programs, therefore unemployment will rise, less revenue’s will be giving to Government, and you will have more people on paper money then real money. Absolute destruction of private enterprise.

4. Doctors as well private physician’s will have no choice but either to close their private clinics and move off shore, or removed themselves from system all together, this will hit preventive care as well all serious medical conditions, and most insurances will either not cover the treatments or will be force to raise premiums on those who have and work hard.

5. Majorities of companies will not be able to sustain heavy adding of services into insurances as many workers will decide to on government bailout then work, for it makes no sense to work, if you can receive same plan as those who do.

6. This will have unprecedented effect of effecting any business abilities in USA, as it will be too expensive to conduct research and development of new effective drugs, and other medicine, when majority will be on subsidies and will hamper on capabilities for Pharmaceutical companies to introduce new products, even with expenditure of governmental breaks out.

7. At the end once Avalanche process is finish, you have a good idea what will happen to rest of the country –…….

Now, this battle is not over, there are still some choices left, limited yes, they are still there. Now is up to you to unite and bring true conservatives to Both Chambers of your government. Real ones who know how to fight a real fight not a girly stance.

If I have offended any one, my apology, but more you cry less you will pee, time to start cleaning the house friends your style in your house.

Merci.

There is no longer any choice. We don’t have the luxury of just voting down-ballot, writing in someone’s name, voting for some staunch conservative third-partier who has no more chance of being elected than we do or not voting at all. Civil war has been declared and we must pick a side. There are only two parties in the USA, pick one.

Whether we like it or not - voting for Romney is the last hail Mary shot we have for getting rid of Obama and Obamacare.

Yes, we also need Republican control of the Senate and retain the House - we need all of it.

But, if Obama is not removed, EVEN if we gain the Senate and retain the House - he will never sign a repeal. And, unless the Republicans win a huge majority in the Senate and the House there is no way that they can overturn it.

So, I say again - whether you like Mitt, hate Mitt, whatever - he is the last shot to remove all of this. If he doesn’t do it, then we formally, finally, last nail in the coffin royally screwed.

He doesn't have to, nor should he suggest a replacement. The vast majority of Americans (85%) are quite content with their health insurance. Romney doesn't need to replace the current situation with anything.
