I thought about this today while grocery shopping.
Everyone has noticed that virtually everything has a Spanish translation at the bottom. Today I noticed that the Spanish translation has almost become as large as the English at various establishments.
I love learning new languages, but don't tell me that 40% of your customers need to be told in another language to not bring propane tanks into the store.
Legal immigrants would love to speak fluent English.
Why do we bend over to accomodate those that just don't CARE to learn the predominant language?
It really puts you at a disadvantage.
If I moved to Mexico, I'd appreciate it if things were labeled in my language, and great if I meet people who speak it. But I would never be such a baby that I wouldn't make an effort to "get by" in espanol.
