Funny: Bush/Palin 2016 seen as GOP’s only chance
The Rockford Register Star's Applesauce Blog ^ | July 7, 2013 | Pat Cunningham

Posted on 07/07/2013 9:01:11 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Amazingly, THIS is supposed to be serious:

Earlier this year, Jeb Bush told ABC that both his father George H.W. Bush, and brother George W. recommended he run for president in 2016. Mama Barbara Bush is not keen on the idea, declaring in April that “the nation’s probably had enough Bushes.”

But in the constantly shifting equations of potential Republican hopefuls for future president and vice president, the former Florida governor’s name has been tied with another former governor: Sarah Palin.

The pair have now been framed as a “the GOP’s only chance” in the race by American Thinker contributor Michael Sheppard.

Should Hillary Clinton emerge as the Democratic candidate, it could also improve Mr. Bush’s “electability”. Then there is the Palin factor, Mr. Sheppard says. She brings ardent fans with her, of course.

“A Jeb Bush/president – Sarah Palin/vice-president ticket covers all the Electoral College, Evangelical, pro-life, centrist-conservative, experienced governorships, male/female bases,” he notes.

(Snip)

Mr. Sheppard continues, “Palin is not the media neophyte she was in 2008, and never again would be the subject of the astonishing MSM/Blogosphere hate and ambush that she was then. A Bush/Palin team would be a candidacy of ideas, from experienced campaigners, which would have to be addressed by the opposition media and Dem’s without the distraction of lurid media ‘scandals’.”

He ultimately concludes, “The Palin/Bush pairing would see the rifts in the GOP healed over, a united team with massive resources in finance, manpower and credibility.....

Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don't say you weren't warned. By the way, this blog's name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, "All politics is applesauce."

About Pat Cunningham

In 41 years as a print and broadcast journalist, most of those years with the Rockford Register Star, Pat Cunningham has covered national politics under eight American presidents. He’s attended 10 national political conventions, Republican and Democratic alike, and has interviewed countless prominent political players, including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush.

"“A Jeb Bush/president – Sarah Palin/vice-president ticket covers all the Electoral College, Evangelical, pro-life, centrist-conservative, experienced governorships, male/female bases,” he notes."

Another article written by someone who doesn't understand the conservative base.

The reason Sarah Palin wouldn't be a VP candidate in 2016 is the same reason she wouldn't have been a VP candidate in 2012: not taking the second slot in a second national election.

I'd also like to think Sarah is smart enough not to hitch her wagon to another moderate Republican loser, which is course is what the GOP-E would love to see happen.

I love Sarah Palin but I would not vote for that ticket. It's the top of the ticket that matters, not the second spot.

I’ll vote for President Palin...with Bush-boy ONLY as her dog catcher Czar.

(His mamma’s right—I’m sick to death of Bushes.)

I see they're telling us what squishy moderates we're going to be able to vote for early this cycle.

I won't be voting for another Bush even with Sarah as VP. I'll stay at home if all we get as choices are moderates. I don't HAVE to vote and from now on I vote my conscience, not the given choices.

He does seem to get the order right in his conclusion. ;-)

The insiders and Bush cabal seem to be relentlessly pushing for yet another Bush...Continuation of the Bush dynasty at all costs..

I’d rather juggle chain saws than vote for another Bush.

"Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective – a New World Order – can emerge. . . Now, we can see a New World Order coming into view. A world in which there is a very real prospect for a New World Order . . .A world where the United Nations, freed from a Cold War stalemate, is poised to fulfill the historic vision of its founders." -- George H. W. Bush told the U.N. on September 11th 1990

Not funny. This ticket would lock on losing.

Jeb Bush is a traitor. He advocates the death of America by invasion of illegal aliens. Conservatives know this. They will not vote for him. And likely they will stay home and not vote for anyone.

The GOPe simply knows they won't get enough conservative support with one of their liberal RINO candidates such as Bush and they simply want to pair one of these losers with someone who is very popular with conservatives.

Liberals know that candidates such as Bush have no chance and believe Palin is a negative which is why they would happily push such a combination as this. This would hurt Mrs. Palin and I would hope she would be intelligent enough not to get paired with another RINO loser like McCain.

In any case, No More RINO’s!

This guy is delusional - shes is STILL "the subject of the astonishing MSM/Blogosphere hate and ambush" she was then. It's simply only brought out when needed. If she we're to announce a run, the MSM/Blogosphere would go into a feeding frenzy, each trying to outdo the other in outrageousness.

It is actually hard to believe the GOP national leadership/establishment is as evil, corrupt and stupid arrogant as they actually are unless you meet them and see them at work and play.

They are evil, being totally corrupted (totally) by the Imperial City and the money machine that politics and DC has become. They worship power and the money it brings. The GOP Platform is just the product they peddle to gain that power away from the “other team”.

They are stupid because believing themselves so uber clever that we morons in flyover country whom they need to vote harvest will fall again for the same tired old crap ONE MORE TIME.

Reagen/Old Bush; Dole/Kemp; Young Bush/Cheney; McCain/Palin; Romney/Ryan.

Team a fake conservative (or real one if you absolutely have to) with a Wall Street/CIA plutocrat operative...play lots of Toby Keith and Hank Williams JR music and we hicks will line up and take the bait.

BTW....I think old man Bush or his handlers were behind the Reagan shooting....but just call me JFK, RFK, MLK, G. Wallace crazy. Crazy like Ross Perot who was probably told the same play was coming his way or far more likely his family so he bolted the race.....remember that little unexplained schizoid affair. What would scare a man like Perot?

So are we as stupid as they think? Is there anyway in heck’s half acre that we would EVER vote for another Bush?

Cruz/Palin or Cruz/Paul or Paul/Palin or Palin/Cruz, or Palin/Paul.....or SpongeBob/Patrick.......but never another Bushie.

Hang on...there are black SUV’s coming up the drive.
