Honest: Would You Rather Win with Chris Christie or Lose with Ted Cruz?
Jewish World Review ^ | November 12, 2013 | Bernard Goldberg

Those sophisticates at Time magazine made a funny. They put Chris Christie on their cover with the headline, "The Elephant in the Room." Get it? Elephant. Christie. Time magazine did a junior high fat joke right there on its cover. Time's executive editor Michael Duffy explained the cheap shot this way: "Well, he's obviously a big guy. He's obviously a big Republican. But he's also done a really huge thing here this week."

The "huge thing" wasn't only winning re-election as New Jersey's governor, but doing it by appealing to a broad range of voters in a very blue state — not just to his conservative base.

But, hey, no harm no foul. Time isn't even a newsmagazine anymore. It became a liberal journal of opinion a long time ago. So you can just hear those wild and crazy journalists at Time sitting around the conference room table giggling about how they'd get away with their fat joke because, well, in the world of politics, the word "elephant" isn't a synonym with "fatso."

But do you think the gang at Time would ever say Barack Obama is a "dark horse." In the world of politics "dark" doesn't mean "black," right?

Time's cover doesn't necessarily mean that Chris Christie is the GOP frontrunner for 2016. It's way too early for that....

I don’t like to play identity politics, but IMHO if we don’t run a woman, we’ll lose.

Christie has no chance to win, he is already the designated loser according the GOPe and MSM

Dem crossover votes will push Christie over the top in the primaries.

I wouldn’t consider a win with Christie to be any sort of a win at all.

Which would mean we’d have to agree on a Conservative candidate early on. Fat chance, given what I saw here in 2012.

I’d rather win with Cruz. Winning with Christie is still a huge loss.

Which require picking a candidate early in the primaries and getting them through. Last two times the pickings were muddled which spread support. If cruz or palin throw in I’ll back them agressively.

If Christie doesn’t do something about his physical condition, he may not make it to another election.

I do wonder if we will really have a free election

If voting for a “Moderate” which is just another cute word for “Leftist” Romney or McCain would have won easily, but the didnt do they Bernie..in fact, they got their asses kicked..what did Romney gain, North Carolina..the Dems had already abandoned NC because of gay marriage..we still lost because we keep on picking these cheesy leftists who go around pretending to be Conservative when they are in fact phonies

Thats why the Dems voted for him in New Jersey, they were probably laughing their asses off as they voted for him..they knew that by Christie winning, it raises his status as the 2016 nominee, which is what they want

Not buying the false premise from the GOP-E again.

You want to win GOP, then put up a Conservative for President.

Period!

Perhaps a better way of putting the question would be:

Would you rather vote for Christie who might be able to defeat Hillary in 2016, or vote for a conservative candidate who represents your ideology much more closely, but has absolutely no chance to win?

The question being posed really seems to be “Hillary or Christie?” Because unless a lot of things change, Christie (or Jeb, or whomever ever GOP-e decides on) will be the candidate.

I don’t like to play identity politics, but IMHO if we don’t run a woman, we’ll lose.

If we're going to play that game the only way we can win is with a mixed race asian/hispanic/black/transgender/lesbian/bhuddist/transgender/wiccan "woman".

Christie won because we had McGreavy and Corzine to benchmark him. Those two were so bad the people of New Jersey elected a straight tough talking guy who has been better so they reelected him.

He can win a presidential race. But he doesn’t have the principles the purists want. He is not a reincarnation of Ronald Reagan. But he is a smart guy who knows how to get things done. He has some personal baggage but who in the game of politics doesn’t?

He would be better than any other moderate Republican and more driven than the likes of Cruz and Paul.

If he wants it he’ll convince enough Republicans to vote for him and he would beat any likely Democrat candidate. He wouldn’t let the Disaster of Obama and even the cronyism of the Clintons go unmentioned in a presidential race.

He’s not a nice guy but he’s a winner.
