That was more of an anti-Taft, pro-Wilson move than anything else. Most of his campaign money for that came from Democrats.

Thus splitting the Republican vote and putting the first Progressive academic Woodrow Wilson in the White house. It's an outrage that TR is on Mt. Rushmore.

There are many that would say that Lincoln should not be on the Mt. Rushmore either. He did not allow the Constitution to play out. The southern states should have been allowed to secede. The more I learn the more I agree.

Here is a beautiful map of Dubuque County .... which is conveniently located not far from much of the Midwest. Anybody phoning into that wonderful area next year?

I tend to agree, although I give the republicans credit for freeing the slaves I think slavery would have ended soon any way and in a much more honorable way and there would not be all this hate.

Plus the black people would not be in political slavery to the democrat party today, maybe the republicans are not so smart in that respect.

There were two businessmen who financed TR in 1912, but I can’t recall their names. The American people easily fell for Woodrow Wilson, who was also a favorite of Richard Nixon. Barry Goldwater liked HST. We never find a Republican who admires an earlier Republican president it seems though some give lip service to Reagan, who was not nearly as conservative in action as his defenders claim.

Kahn later built Oheka Castle, his monument to money and power, near Theodore Roosevelt’s Long Island estate at Sagamore Hill.
