Trent Lott sells out, thrashes Ted Cruz
The Washington Times ^ | December 8, 2014 | Steve Deace

Trent Lott wasn’t always this way.

He was once a conservative champion, who came to Washington to change the ruling-class narrative. But now he’s a profile in what Washington does to you if you stay too long — unless you have Winston Churchill-like courage of conviction, and few mere mortals do.

Mr. Lott was originally part of a group that included former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Vin Webber, who were dubbed the “Young Turks.” They were among the chief lieutenants of the Reagan Revolution back in the day. Best known for fighting the Fraternal Order of Establishment Republicans. Led back then by men like former House Minority Leader Bob Michel, who only seemed to fight Democrats when they were on the golf course.

In 1992, Mr. Lott was one of seven conservatives who penned a letter to then-President George H.W. Bush, urging him to run a more aggressive re-election campaign. The letter boldly stated that should President Bush “resort to old Republican exhortations” which were “tired old cliches,” they predicted “the American people will quickly lose interest” in his candidacy. And they were right. Mr. Bush received the smallest percentage of the popular vote by a president up for re-election since 1912.

Unfortunately, these days that same Mr. Lott criticizes Sen. Ted Cruz for doing exactly what he used to do....

A Senator from Mississippi turning against the TEA Party and other conservatives? Who saw that coming?

Someone, or something has rattled Lott’s cage. He’s in the news all of a sudden almost every day. Is this Anus Orifice making some sort of a comeback? Right now is NOT the best time to be reviving discarded waste.

Trent has always been over cautious and skittish about what the other side may think. I recall him folding like a cheap suit years back when he made some complimentary remarks about an elder statesman who had some racist history in his distant past. We have enough easily frightened Rinos already Trent. You can return to your solitaire poker games.

Yes, no surprise here coming from Trent Lott of the Barbour (i.e., corrupt) wing of the Mississippi Republican Party. Lott is raking in the cash from the Washington DC “rent seekers”, just as Eric Cantor is doing now.

GOPe Corruptocrats!

Trent, if you worried half as much about the future of this country half as much as you worried about the lint on your slacks, America would be a better place.

You are yesterday’s news, while Ted is America’s future.

Ted is under no obligation to endorse the seniority traditions at the expense of the Constitutional mandates of his oath.

Lott has moved over to the lobbying side. His clients obviously don’t like Sen Cruz

Not even Dems trash their Sharpton base.

Don’t understand Republicans trashing Conservative voters. Odd.

He was once a conservative champion,

...

He pretended to be conservative, and he can’t be a sell out because he has nothing to sell.

WOW - isn't that what we saw from Marco Rubio in like two weeks?

Lott sold out while he was still majority leader. The MSM have just discovered that he is willing to trash his former party, for a price. No mystery. The man is for sale and has been at least since 1996.

Lott was a waste even before his liberal friends torched his political career. I guess with Boner and McConnell in charge of capitulation now, he thinks it’s safe to come out and play again.

Both Lott and Linda Graham blamed the Tea Party for the failure to regain the senate in 2010. It certainly is the way of liberals to double down on stupidity and evil when their agenda is disrupted.

MT Lott did not sell out. He is just exhibiting his true nature of weaselness. He was a weasel the day he was born and will be the day he is screwed into the ground. He is much too crooked to bury.

Besides, the weasel never even sent me a “thank you” for sending him a deer spine and a cheery note suggesting he get it installed after one of his many sell outs back in the 90’s.
