George Romney was born in Mexico because his parents were American polygamists evading the US laws. I don't think the Mexican government ever regarded him as a Mexican citizen.
You lost me on the Swiss.

So why should I trust him when he bloviates about running for president?
He’s a publicity seeking gasbag....

Ted Cruz’s mother was an American citizen, conferring citizenship on him even had he been born on a Moon colony. Yes she did. And so did his Cuban father, as did the nation of Canada. Ted has inherited his citizenship from all three.
Ted Cruz is a natural born multinational citizen of the world due to his birth, rather than a bred and born American like I assume you are and I am.

In a way, it could be the Donald trying to help out — he knows he’s really in showbiz, and it would look hypocritical if he’d give Cruz a pass after pretending Obama’s Kenyan birth bothered him.
