BEAUMONT - Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, denies that he has any animosity toward gay Americans when it comes to states using its own system of regulations to define marriage.
While at a fundraiser at the MCM Elegante Hotel in Beaumont on Tuesday, Cruz held tight to his ideas that links same sex marriage to a fight over American's religions freedoms.
"Look, I'm a Christian," Cruz said. "Scripture commands us to love everybody. And what I have been talking about, with respect to same sex marriage, is the constitution, which is what we should all be focused on. The constitution gives marriage to elected state legislatures. It doesn't give the power of marriage to a president or to un-elected judges to tear down the decisions enacted by democratically elected state legislatures."
This year, Ted Cruz, and 11 other U.S. Senators, introduced the State Marriage Defense Act, which would allow states to use their own interpretations to define marriage, and would block the federal government from applying its own definition of marriage onto states.
"I support traditional marriage and we should reject attempts by the Obama administration to force same-sex marriage on all 50 states," Cruz told 12News about the State Marriage Defense Act. "The State Marriage Defense Act helps safeguard the ability of states to preserve traditional marriage for their citizens."
The Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling next month on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage.
Although George doesnt POUT and SNARL much that Ive seen...Obie’s facial expressions are very often Very Curious George like arent they!!
“The Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling next month on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage.”
Saying prayers the Supreme Court does the right thing because my state (CA) has voted against it a couple of times and the judges keep telling us we can’t have what
we want. (or wanted, who knows now) sigh
I give him a B- here. Maybe a C. But when everyone else is getting a D- or F, he is still ok. It is ridiculous that it is framed where he must deny animosity.
This is better: 1856 - The new Republican party selected for its national platform a call to abolish the Twin Relics of Barbarism, Slavery and Polygamy.
it is currently being left to the states. That is not our history. Utah was required to abolish polygamy as a condition to join the union.
“Society has always regarded marital love as a sacred expression of the bond between a man and a woman. It is the means by which families are created and society itself is extended into the future. In the Judeo-Christian tradition it is the means by which husband and wife participate with God in the creation of a new human life. It is for these reasons, among others, that our society has always sought to protect this unique relationship. In part the erosion of these values has given way to a celebration of forms of expression most reject. We will resist the efforts of some to obtain government endorsement of homosexuality.” — President Ronald Reagan, July 12, 1984
Mike Adams: I do not believe that surgically applying a breast to a mans chest can make him a woman any more than surgically applying a horn to a mans forehead can make him a unicorn.
“In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate, look to his character. The scriptures teach that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, able men, men of truth, hating covetousness. It is to the neglect of this rule that we must ascribe the multified frauds, breaches of trust, and embezzlement of public property which tarnish the character of our country and disgrace government. When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility, he sacrifices not only his interest, but that of his neighbor; he betrays the interest of his country.” Noah Webster, 1823
As a Michigander by way of Utah...I LOVE THAT GRAPHIC!!
I dunno. I always said the very same of Bill and Hill. How did they get in the place? I’m sure I don’t know. Oh, I remember.....
Bob Dulll. The RINO Establishment choice for that cycle.
ZZZzzzzzzz.
Does Ted Cruz really hate gay people????? This pictures proves that he doesn’t at all. In fact, this is his best friend and yes he is gay. So no Ted does not hate gays.
Does Scripture command us to “love everybody”? It does say to pray for our enemies. That’s when prayer seems most difficult.
Ted Cruz.... there he goes again. He’s always gotta bring up the Constitution.
“”Look, I’m a Christian,” Cruz said. “Scripture commands us to love everybody. And what I have been talking about, with respect to same sex marriage, is the constitution, which is what we should all be focused on. The constitution gives marriage to elected state legislatures. It doesn’t give the power of marriage to a president or to un-elected judges to tear down the decisions enacted by democratically elected state legislatures.””
This guy is brilliant. He doesn’t fall for their straw man argument. He answers it briefly, succinctly, and on point. Then goes on to discuss the REAL subject, on his terms and conditions.
I can’t wait to see him in the debates.
“Ted Cruz.... there he goes again. Hes always gotta bring up the Constitution.”
;) Don’t you love it?!
Hell yeah!
Uh no, Ted. The Constitution leaves subjects it does not directly address (like marriage) to the States, OR THE PEOPLE.
And as far as I'm concerned, NO government has the authority to solemnize a marriage. It's a sacred commitment between two people and God, based on love - period. Government has nothing whatsoever to do with ANY of that.
Why difficult? I pray my for enemies to lose all the time. What could possibly be more spiritually beneficial than for people pursuing evil to fail?
The media is infatuated with homosexuality.
The media only care about homosexuality and contraception when it comes to elections and then they have to lie about the republicans and conservatives.
There was no fight whatsoever left in Bob Dull by the time he was nominated was there.
Author Denies Beating Wife!
I love that! I am going to steal it for my FB profile pic.
Go ahead and spread it around.
The problem with Federal over-reach is there’s no prison sentence.
