The beginning of the end of Trump (From the man who brought us the Trayvon trial fiasco)
The Washington Post's Post Partisan ^ | July 20, 2015 | Jonathan Capehart

Posted on 07/20/2015 9:13:11 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Donald Trump finally said something that shook the Republican establishment out of its self-induced stupor over his presidential candidacy. “He’s a war hero because he was captured,” the loudmouth from New York said about Sen. John McCain, Vietnam War veteran and prisoner of war, at a GOP cattle call in Iowa on Saturday. “I like people that weren’t captured.”

That’s rich coming from a billionaire who received five deferments from military service during the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, McCain, who refused early release, was held captive and tortured in a North Vietnam prison for five-and-a-half years. Anyone who aspires to be commander-in-chief of the armed forces ought to know better than to disparage the service of anyone who has ever donned the uniform.

The condemnation was swift from most of his competitors. Although Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) was typically craven with his defense of McCain and his refusal to criticize Trump. The political play here is easy to discern. While Trump is soaring in the polls, Cruz knows he’ll be in the race longer than The Donald. And he hopes or expects Trumps followers to see him as the natural heir for their support....

Which branch did Jonathan serve in? Was "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" a factor in his selection process?

Imagine this Capeheart dude describing the Dems meeting as a “cattle-call”. I think Hillary would not be happy.

He may have had a heroic moment,, once. But that was fully wiped away at the moment he became a traitor.
When Vietnam and moneyed interests needed MFN trade status, he was there to stab POWs and their families in the back.

To make MFN happen, he closed the door on the POWs who were still in captivity. He treated those families like garbage, and sealed the records.

He is no hero. He is a traitor, for sale to the highest bidder.

Like Obama? Or Clinton?

They did the same thing to Reagan, too. That worked out well for them, didn't it? I'm not saying Trump is a Reagan mostly because I think Trump has a better grasp of immigration issues than did The Gipper, God Bless him.

Benedict Arnold was a war hero at one point, now wasn’t he?

The elite establishment press is joining forces with the elite establishment politicians to destroy Trump.

And they all sound EXACTLY the same. It's getting to where reading them is just tedious.

Today the Monmouth Poll for IA came out-—the first after Trump’s McCain comments: no effect. He’s at 13%, Walker is ahead of him at 22% (but I think that’s a “coming out” bump for Walker, plus he’s very close by in WI). For Trump, this is pretty much where he is in all polls, first or second.

Is this for real? No wonder ISIS can’t take us seriously.

Hillary is a serial felon factory. She gets people killed by the thousands. She is married to a rapist. Bush is part of a dynasty that has anything but the country’s interests in mind. The other candidates are for the most part statist wannabes and they are all having a nervous breakdown over some words inaccurately represented that supposedly Trump said which he did not. This is so ridiculous.

If you have ever seem the Chinese series “Empresses of the Palace” this is what this presidential race reminds me of. You can get it on youtube. Everything in the palace is an affront. The Empresses are so bored that they have to make everything into an issue and their lives are filled with absurdity and irrelevance.

Please. If this is all they have to throw at Trump they are all in big trouble.

I think Trump has an easy play here to totally deflect this issue. It's time for Trump to raise a new issue to follow illegal immigration.

Trump should start talking about the deplorable management at the Veterans Administration and what he will do about it.

Then he can ask what has McCain and Graham done about it? Hold hearings? Visit Walter Reed Hospital?

Let's see Trump force a new issue onto the candidates that will resonate with the people and smoke out the politicians.

Because Trump is viewed as a traitor. He was considered part of the elite (maybe a junior member), but is not following the play book.

So many pencil necks; so little time.

Did you know in absence of other evidence it’s almost impossible to tell if a snapped neck is homicide or misadventure?
