Ann Coulter: Donald Trump can win White House as Republican or third-party candidate
The Washington Times ^ | July 24, 2015 | Seth McLaughlin

Ann Coulter believes that Donald Trump can win the White House by continuing to tap into the electorate’s anger over the nation’s broken immigration system.

Speaking at a collegiate forum hosted by the Eagle Forum, Ms. Counter said Friday that Mr. Trump should not be underestimated.

“I love Trump. I love him, and I think he can win,” Ms. Coulter said. “I think he can win the nomination and I think he can win as a third party.”

The conservative commentator is one of the most vocal critics of the immigration system. She recently released a book, called “Adios America: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole,” in which she attacks both parties for not strengthening border security and not reducing the flow of people coming into the country — both legally and illegally.

On Friday, Ms. Coulter told the college students gathered at the Heritage Foundation that her first thought when Mr. Trump entered the GOP race was that she was glad that he would ensure immigration would get some attention.

Since then, she has come to believe that Mr. Trump, who has surged to the top of the GOP polls, has a real shot at winning the primary race, as well as the general election....

The Repub-Es think Obama has done such a poor job that conservatives will support for Jeb or any Repub-E candidate.

What they don't realize is that they will be held responsible for their malfeasance of letting Obama have everything he has wanted.

That is going to fall hard on the rino candidate.

I'm not saying it's going to cost the prez election but it will hurt turnout.

Wilson Pickett was no loser, much less three times.

He was one of my favorite R&B guys in the 60's.

One of his greatest hits back then was Mustang Sally.

Wilson was a winner!

It’s doubtful that Hillary will even get the nomination.

The post wasn't in reference to Pickett, it was in reference to the title of the song.

3 times is not always a charm. If it were there would be no such thing as a 3-time loser. :-P

Coulter is on my sh*t list but it is true that Trump/Cruz can win it on a 3rd Party ticket. Here’s how:

It’s not such a small chance today as it was in past elections because of a huge relatively unreported change in voter affiliations. They can do it and win fairly easily.

Many think it will be Perot deja-vu all over again; they would be wrong.

Since 1992 the electorate has changed and since 2012 there has been a seldom reported sea change in voter registration affiliations.

In 2008, 24% of the electorate identified themselves as Independent. After 2012 and by 2014 that number surged to 42% of the electorate identifying themselves as Independent. That is an ENORMOUS change and 2/3’s of those 42% identify themselves as conservatives with most of the rest as moderates or leaning conservative.

As a result of this huge growth in the ranks of Independents, there remain only 27% republican affiliated and 31% democrat affiliated. Of the 27% republican registered, 18% are conservative base and the rest moderate or establishment, and the conservative base are mostly following Cruz and now Trump. Of the democrats 31%, 8% (of electorate) are Latino-Americans and 5% (of electorate) are Reagan democrats. Cruz will take 40% of the Latino vote (as he did in TX) and all of the Reagan democrats or will share them with Trump.

Cruz has also tapped into the 17 million apathetic but conservative-leaning Americans that don’t bother to register or vote because they see a one-party system and correctly determine that the candidates offered represent the same Oligarchs. So they withdraw and stay quiet until they have had contact in town halls with Ted Cruz. Now they are fired up.

There is no danger of a Perot-like splinter of the GOP. There is the very real possibility that Cruz/Trump takes (in % of total electorate) 28% as Independents, 3% Latino-Americans, 5% of Reagan democrats, up to 18% of the GOP conservative base and millions more who are inspired for the first time in a generation to register and show up to vote.

No matter how it is sliced, Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz leave the democrats and GOPe at a loss in a 3-way race. If a 3rd party movement were to emerge, the only way to stop the above confluence of political realities is to fantasize that the democrats and republicans will merge officially <— NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

But a 3rd Party movement is still in the fringe and will likely not happen. However, a merging of Trump and Cruz is very possible.

Sadly, and strangely, and in spite of her support of liberal Republicans, some here still believe what she says is relevant.

Yes, that’s what I think as well.

Many people are assuming Republican voters are stupid and would vote for ¡YEB! in that scenario. I don’t think so.

Her support for liberal Republicans, including lifelong liberal Donald Trump, makes her no better than Rove. It makes her just like him.

I agree. I’ve compared Trump to Reagan too. Both love America (unlike Hussein). Both are under-rated by the elites.

It makes it easy to sniff out the GOP-E’s and RINOs when they call Trump a clown or circus show, etc.

He’s got what it takes to shake things up and save our country from permanent ruin.

I love how he just says the truth, even when the new castrati cry about it. Let them cry. We’ve been through 8 years of hell, time to make America great again.

Anything she’s like. Preferably how one is a conservative when they promote GOP liberals.

We need both as a tag team to KO the left.

Trump needs Cruz because Trump is still making mistakes in quoting history and also needs a strong backstop on constitutional principles; that would be Cruz.

The courage Ted Cruz displayed today shows he’s the only other candidate that is not owned by the Washington Cartel because what he did today would be certain suicide for others.

Trump needs Cruz and Cruz needs Trump.

Cruz reaches the intellectuals and intelligentsia.

Trump reaches the low information voters.

Together they are unbeatable.

But Trump is the typical brash New Yorker who will never take a position behind any other.

So it’s Trump/Cruz.

Trump will be number 45 with Cruz as VP. Cruz will be 46.

“I think he can win the nomination and I think he can win as a third party.”

Neither of those things will happen.

Yeah, I knew what your post was about. But it was Pickett that got my attention.

“Three Times A Charm” is just a phrase, it’s not meant to be taken as a universal truth. It’s an old but optimistic expression.

“Three Time Loser” is pessimistic and defeatist. It’s of no interest to an optimist.

8^)

“Her support for liberal Republicans, including lifelong liberal Donald Trump, makes her no better than Rove. It makes her just like him.”

I’d rather support someone that at least talks conservative, as opposed to someone that has been PROVEN to support Open Borders, which means every Republican candidate other than Cruz.
