Wrong. Just how would the threat of going third party modify anyone’s behavior or, even if it did, have any impact on Trump’s chances of being elected? Trump has the cash and is therefore not reliant big GOP donors. And the media is giving him plenty of coverage. Trump has the resources and coverage to go directly to GOP voters whether the GOPe likes it or not.
The principled course of action would be for him to make it very clear that 1) The democrats’ policies represent an existential threat to our country; 2) He would support ANY Republican against ANY democrat.
Even assuming his “threat” might achieve it’s objective, it is disgustingly unprincipled and should disqualify him from consideration - he is basically saying “Treat me bad and I will gladly fatally damage your cause (and mine) and dramatically increase the probability of having the democratic nominee win”.
