I just don’t see it.

Cruz is already charm and personality-challenged as it is, and after Trump I think that’ll be all the more glaring.

Compared to which of the other remaining candidates?

I agree. Plus he isn’t going to attract voters across the ideological spectrum like Trump.

-I like that scenario—but the cynic in me says that the Repub establishment and Jeb go all out with appeal to “moderate” Democraps after Hillary implodes , as the “centrist, reasonable” candidate and the Washington establishment gets permanency——

I do not see Trump doing anything less than he is doing now.
We have a few days till the first debates, which might give us a better view of both Mssrs. Trump and Cruz.

I would not doubt that there is an undercurrent of those who would wish to see a Trump/Cruz ticket, although i cannot see which alpha male would settle for the VP slot.

I’ll give you that Donald has a much bigger personality....than anyone running, not just Cruz. But I don’t think Cruz is “charm challenged” - unless you buy the mainstream media portrayal of him. Which I do not by the way.

The other thing to consider is this: a huge in your face personality is great...for a while....but won’t it get tiring after a while? This is a marathon, not a sprint. Maybe Trump is Secretariat...and while a sprinter, he can also muster the distance too. But those are once in a generation traits.

I call this wishful thinking at best, grasping at straws is more like it. Trump is clearly in this for the long haul, Cruz has sunk to the bottom. Guess if he plays nicely he might get a role in Trump administration. Personally, I would prefer to see Cruz replace McConnell.

Cruz has to hope he makes the debate—he was out of the top 10 in a Reuters poll yesterday.

So let me get me get this straight: we now have bought into the GOP establishment mindset that was must appeal "across the ideological spectrum" - you know, like McCain and Romney were going to do? Meanwhile, our savior is great because he hates the GOP estabs as much as we do?

Uh dude, logic and history are not on your side with that statement.

Ummmm.... No. Ted Cruz has more charm and personality than Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton combined. And while Donald Trump is a larger than life personality, he is not even close to Ted Cruz when it comes to charm.

I do not see Trump doing anything less than he is doing well

Trump knows how to win, and does not tolerate unfair assaults on his dignity or accomplishments. Maybe when he first entered it was to shake things up. But after the outrageous stuff to get him out of the race, I just can't see a natural winner such as Trump backing down.

I'm also wondering if it it's Jindal who's playing it smart and maybe a real good VP possibility.

“Sunk to the bottom?” Have you seen some polls the rest of us haven’t?

Trump has a charming personality?

Jindal? Who isn’t even popular in his home state? Do you think that Don Trump and his people can’t read?

At 5% and less, down there with Santorum (otherwise no comparison intended), I would say bottom. He is not alone as most of the 17+ candidates have single digit support. Just somewhere along the line he and others will have to face reality that they have no chance against Trump. Again, I’d love to see Cruz, at this point, take on and replace McConnell.

The only reason Trump entered in the first place, he explains, was to set the tone of the dialog

Curious me asks, when was this stated by DT ?

I have a better chance of replacing McConnell. Do you read the newspaper?
