Ted Cruz says Donald Trump can't win, nation awaits inevitable angry response
The Examiner ^ | October 9, 2015 | Mark Whittington, Houston Ted Cruz Examiner

Posted on 10/09/2015 8:19:48 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Politico noted on Friday that Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a candidate for president of the United States, has said the first thing that has come out of his mouth that could be construed to be remotely negative about Donald Trump. Cruz stated in an interview that will run Sunday on WABC that he does not think that Trump will win the Republican nomination and that most of the mercurial businessman’s voters will gravitate to the man from Texas. The statement was so mild and obvious that if said about anyone else it would not be news. Indeed, a Trump spokesperson simply begged to disagree on Twitter.

But, as Hot Air reminded us, Donald Trump is no ordinary candidate. He has both a volcanic temper and a thin skin that has manifested many times in incendiary attacks on opponents and members of the media. The nation is now hushed, awaiting the explosion. Will Trump call Cruz a “loser” and will he go full bore birther on him?

To be sure, Cruz sweetened his observation with praise....

There will be no Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran bill, because that happened BEFORE the freakin’ vote.

Wow you must know abut different rules than the rest of the senators. The reason there was no review and hence no debate was because of treasonous maneuvers by McConnell. But, I suspect you already knew that.

“Without this bill, there is no review,” Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said during the closing debate, which shut off a bid from younger conservatives to toughen the language even if meant a collapse of support for the oversight. “No bill, no review.”

There was not one thing Cruz could have done to stop the deal, his last ditch effort was an attempt to delay it so that a public opposition and outcry could be organized. You seem to be saying that if Cruz did a show vote against it you would feel better, but Trump still makes you wetter.

“Cruz is in second place in total commitment, but in first place in grass roots contributions.”

Contributions mean nothing without majority base that will actually vote for the candidate - that is what Trump has that Cruz doesn’t have. That fact is being proven multiple times a week by the numbers attending the Trump rallies. It’s being proven over and over in polls. Like I said when Cruz has weekly rally numbers and poll numers like Trump does then I’ll put more hope in him. Trump has those numbers becasue people view him as someone who will put together the team needed to do what we all know needs to be done.

This isn’t about me not liking or respecting Cruz - I like him and respect him a lot, maybe more than Trump.

>> “Contributions mean nothing without majority base that will actually vote for the candidate” <<

Cruz has that. It is out of Trump’s reach due to his unalterable high negatives.

Cruz has had the greatest numbers at rallies by far of any other candidate, and easily the most vocal too.

Push poll numbers are just propaganda.

Only a poll without qualifying questions would have meaning, and there have been none of those yet.

This is just about your lack of understanding of pre-primary machinations. Trump’s participation pretending to be a Republican is very much a part of those machinations.

No, just reality. No need to troll someone who can’t break into the top tier. Cruz is great though.

“show vote against it” You mean Cruz standing up for his values is all a show?

You are an complete idiot and an obnoxious POS. I’ll have to remember your handle and know not to ever try to engage you in rational conservation. Just keep thinking of Cruz and have an endless source of tingles up your leg.

In other words, people are angry, and they’re cutting off their noses to spite their faces by throwing support behind a Democrat reality show star instead of a solid Constitutional conservative.

Mouthing the current memes doesn’t change the utter foolishness of doing so.

You’re trying to put forth the fiction that Trump rivals Cruz in brilliance, but in a different way.

It’s simply not so, but I’m not surprised to see his adoring fans try to advance the idea.

Go right ahead believing that supporting a Democrat will bring you anything but disaster. I’ll have no part of it, and I have never been under any illusions about Trump. Nor is that going to change.

I think that Associate Justice of the Supreme Court replacing Ruth Buzzie Ginsburg would be a good start. Moving up to Chief Justice after a few years. Remember it was the Judges in Sodom that got that town into trouble with YHWH.

It’s simply not so? Why? Because you say it isn’t? You have an undeservedly high opinion of your judgement. It’s a natural reaction for the small minded to attack what they don’t understand.

“Go right ahead believing that supporting a Democrat will bring you anything but disaster. I’ll have no part of it.” .

Don’t want your support. Don’t need it. There are enough people who get it.

Trump's so-called "brilliance" was never been mentioned until his devoted fans tried to make it a thing.

Cruz's intellect is well-known and has been widely discussed.

Seems to me you're the one who's trying to make personal judgement (or wishes) into fact.

I get that Trump is a Democrat...always has been, and says he still is in a lot of ways. I won't vote for him under any circumstances.

It’s been widely discussed? That makes it true? I didn’t need Alan Dershowitz to tell me Cruz was smart. All you have to do is listen to the guy to know it’s true.

I’m supposed to gauge the truth of Cruz’s intelligence based on what other people said about him rather than using my own judgement? Now you want me to believe Trump’s brilliance is a myth simply because people didn’t talk about until he got into the race? Why would they? It was never an issue until he started running for President.

In short, when people talk about Cruz’s intelligence, it’s proof that he’s intelligent. When people talk about Trump’s intelligence, then it’s fans trying to ‘make a thing’.

I base my assessment of Trump’s intelligence on the evidence, not on what people say. Same with Cruz.

Anyone can be a judge.

No legal training is even needed.

Just a copy of the constitution.

Cruz is way too good to waste in anything but the presidency, and he happens to be the only qualified candidate we have.

The rest of them should be arrested for impersonating a candidate.

We have had two “good” Republican Presidents in the past 70 years, Eisenhower and Reagan. One had run World War II in Europe, and the other California. Since we really do need to rebuild this country, we really should look for someone who has experience building things. At a minimum he/she should have experience managing a large, multi-state, or multi-national organization. I am not sure Ted Cruz has what it takes in any of these areas.
