Maybe that is something we could look into. The trouble is that we don’t have any money to put into a HSA, which is what the church had gone to right before my husband became disabled. The idea was that they would offset the high deductible by putting money into an HSA. But now we just have that same high deductible, that the disability insurance company pays for, but no way to afford to put money into the HSA to cover the deductible.
Our situation is different than most though since we’re pretty much stuck with the income we have. That plan could be a good option for a lot of other people though.
I am very sorry to hear of your difficult situation. The HSA was something that my previous employer set up for us years ago which now has a reserve of funds that are currently sufficient to cover expenses not covered by the Healthcare Ministry. The nice thing for us is that we are saving hundreds of dollars every month by not paying for an Obamacare plan and putting part of the savings into the HSA. Our HSA actually has a debit card that we use at the drug store and doctors office.
