DEAR GOPe: Unite Behind Ted Cruz --- Or Die.
Director Blue ^ | March 9, 2016

Posted on 03/09/2016 7:34:43 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

That's the message David French has for the GOP establishment:

Here's what the math says: John Kasich and Marco Rubio, you have no hope of becoming the GOP nominee. Even if you win your home states, the only thing that will do is maintain the four-person dynamic under which Trump thrives. Even if you are fortunate enough to work cooperatively to deny Trump an absolute majority of delegates, do either of you -- in your right mind -- believe that a convention dominated by Trump and Cruz delegates is going to unite behind you? They'd sooner riot (and I'm only partially joking).

We've given the multi-candidate "blind ambition tour" exactly 23 states and one territory to work, and here's the score: Trump 15, Cruz 7, Rubio 2, and Kasich . . . zero. I think that's a sufficient sample size. Let's try something else...

...Let's try uniting around the person who's beaten Trump more than anyone else -- a person who happens to be a constitutional conservative, who would replace Justice Scalia with a judicial superstar, who is unquestionably pro-life, who is unyielding in his defense of religious liberty, and who actually understands the dynamics of the global economy, trade policy, and national security.

...Is it more likely that Trump loses two-man races in the winner-take-all states with Rubio and Kasich united behind Cruz? Or is it more likely that Trump keeps winning a four-man race with his solid, unyielding 35 percent?

...I have a feeling, however, that this appeal will fall on deaf ears -- and not just deaf candidate ears. The party elders and donors who traditionally intervene to talk sense into failed candidates are also sitting on the sidelines, paralyzed perhaps by their hatred of Ted Cruz...

...After 24 contests, the pattern is emerging. Cruz battles Trump for first, while Rubio and Kasich tend to battle each other for last. This is true in the South, the West, the Northeast, and the Midwest. Can conservatives finally get serious? Can we finally unify, now, before Trump starts sweeping winner-take-all states with 35 percent of the vote? If not, then a foolish GOP will richly deserve its fate. I'd like to remind readers that Scott McKay predicted this very scenario in August of 2015. His American Spectator article -- entitled "Could Ted Cruz End Up as the Establishment Candidate?" -- assessed poll data, fundraising ability, and organizational structure and arrived at that conclusion.

We could see a situation where Trump is ahead on the strength of his performance in the early states and still leads in the polls, though he might have commenced fading in the face of the various challenges befalling a presidential candidate and the terror gripping the party of having to nominate a bull-in-a-China-shop like the real estate magnate has not subsided. But while the establishment might believe Trump is beatable, they could be without candidates to beat him.

And at that juncture, the unthinkable might become inevitable; namely, that the RINO/Chamber of Commerce GOP establishment might well see Ted Cruz as their only hope to stop Donald Trump from getting the Republican nomination.

McKay predicted that the GOPe would end up begging Cruz to save them from Trump.

We'll see how much sway the doddering, incompetent, open borders losers at the RNC have over the remaining two vanity candidates. They should be begging Rubio and Kasich to drop out immediately.

But, given the RNC's wondrous track record this cycle, I wouldn't count on anything sensible happening.

"The party elders and donors who traditionally intervene to talk sense into failed candidates are also sitting on the sidelines, paralyzed perhaps by their hatred of Ted Cruz."

This is impossible because Cruz IS the establishment. I'm told that daily at FR.

“foolish GOP will richly deserve its fate”

That goes without saying, regardless of whether it’s Cruz or Trump.

Post much anti-Cruz GOPe sponsored ‘All good citizens must unite behind the only decent candidate Cruz’ stuff? Are you in a contest with CW?

Message received...Rubio is doing lousy so he and everyone else on the planet who is not a democrat must unite behind the only real conservative candidate, Ted Cruz to thwart the common threat, the biggest danger to the entire planet... Donald TRump. I am guessing that you likely agree or you would not post so many with the same theme...I think 4 tonight.

I am not sure exactly who pens all these articles, but I suspect the authors have ties to the GOP elite. These articles really upset me because they insist on trying to manipulate and dictate to voters and candidates — telling voters who to like & what to do—just like has happened for the past 30 years...but hey it will be different with TEd right? So whatever works....

Frankly, I think the GOPe wants to take Romney to the prom, and they will dump Ted at the door of the convention. I don’t trust GOPe & I don’t want Romney presidency...

If GOPe truly backs Cruz, then hard to trust Cruz...and there are posters saying hey, a Cruz/Bush ticket would be fine—because Reagan had to put a Bush on the ticket...Well I don’t want a Bush presidency ever...

What a conundrum...Time will tell—but you have to admit, Romney has generated more passion in the past 2 weeks than he did in the last 3 months of his campaign....and Bush said Trump will never be the nominee and that he would... As I said, time will tell.

All these anti-Trump articles being published as fast as the elites can type have made me more resolved than ever to vote for Trump...He is taking Flack from all sides...ALL.

That said, I’ll let you get back to finding more Unite Against Trump pieces.

Additionally, let’s say Cruz defeats Trump fairly by getting enough delegates without backroom shenanigans, will Trump OK with that, or sabotage the whole deal, assuring Hillary her rightful place? Obviously some on this Board hate Ted and will never vote for him. But, others may be less vehement and be influenced by Trumps attitude. Just musing.

Actually that's not called musing. Its called agitprop, and its a communist technique.

But thanks for playing.

Oh like hell Cruz can’t beat Hillary. Wait until the FBI director resigns and the intelligence community goes bonkers on the old hag.

We have a great chance and it’s too bad the Trumpites can’t support a conservative but are still worshipping their dear leader, who thinks his supporters would be with him — even if he murdered someone. THE MAN IS NOT CAPABLE OF BEING PRESIDENT. He is a certifiable nut. Who thinks about his followers being so devoted that they wouldn’t mind if he murdered someone. He is crazy.

One of the cornerstones of Trump’s campaign has been that he would be tough on illegal immigration and would build a wall on our southern border. PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT TRUMP should have listened to what he said in Detroit, where he praised Sen. Marco Rubio for his flexibility in working with President Obama and Sen. Schumer to give 11 million illegal aliens amnesty – after Rubio had promised to oppose amnesty when he ran for the Senate in Florida. Trump reminds me more and more of Arnold Schwarzenegger, a political weasel who there ever was one.

While Cruz was fighting the amnesty in 2013, Trump was busy funding the campaigns — giving $50,000 — to 5 members of the Gang of Eight. WHAT A SAP AND A SUCKER. A traitor yesterday, a friend today.

All of the polls I’ve seen show your Trumpster losing to Hillary. Show me the polls where he wins. Many conservatives do not trust Trump, the long-time liberal in the least.

You know, you’re right that Glenn Beck’s comments about Trump were disgusting.

However, what’s worse is when THE CANDIDATE HIMSELF — in this case Trump — talks of murdering someone, and knowing that his followers would stick with him. Trump is a nut. I could never imagine Reagan or George W. — or even Clinton or Obama — saying something that stupid and ego-driven. Trump is weird — and we’re not even talking about being “attracted” to his daughter. The man makes me ill.

One might be arguing that Rubio ends up costing us the general election. If that becomes the consensus he then has zero future in politics. He has no base and won’t have the party either.

you fight the good fight. Trump backers just worship him and hate everyone else. They’re in the minority when you look at his polling but believe they’re on some sort of sacred mission. I barely post any longer because its like me telling someone their religion is wrong. Its amazing. He had support here before his comments on illegals pretty much based on nothing. The idiots must all watch lots of Kardashian TV.

“All of the polls I’ve seen show your Trumpster losing to Hillary. Show me the polls where he wins.”

I just did. Those polls that show him losing are national polls. Our president is chosen state by state, not nationally.

I’ve just posted those state head to head polls, from RCP (real clear politics). Cruz loses in OH, FL, PA to Hillary.

Trump wins in OH, FL and is tied against Hillary in PA.

I fear that those national polls, that show Trump losing, are being used by the MSM to fool people.

“Many conservatives do not trust Trump, the long-time liberal in the least.”

I know.

But Last I heard he was “far right, like Hitler.”

Well hey there, thanks for interjecting YOURSELF into my comment to ANOTHER poster...Know what’s even worse? When a person DOESN’T KNOW what they are talking about—and is just using talking points to attack! I really wish you would have stayed out of my comment. But you didn’t and I cannot let your inaccurate accusations stand.

Beck is off the rails—he talked about STABBING Trump, referred to Trump as Hitler and his supporters as Nazis, etc. He was deemed serious enough that Secret Service questioned him...It is not only disgusting, it is frightening...I listened to the tape—several times; I really don’t think he was kidding.

Did you listen to the Trump tapes? I did several times... Were you at the Rally? I have both heard the tapes, and been at a Rally...Guess what?!?! he was KIDDING!!! Sheesh...

Trump’s comments...as per WAPO:

They say I have the most loyal people - did you ever see that? - where I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” Trump said, illustrating his point by pulling his fingers into a gun shape. “Okay? It’s like incredible.”

The crowd laughed and clapped, and someone in the audience shouted out love for the candidate.

“We love you, too, man,” Trump said.

Of course, the pundits and media neglect the context of the quote. The audience ate it up and were laughing and clapping and shouting their love for Trump.

Everyone gets the joke except the liberal media and Cruz supporters. Sheesh! Maybe you should have listened to the tape before interjecting out of context comments into my comments to another poster..

Regarding your second accusation: From 10 years ago Trump and his daughter had just sat down for an interview with a group of women—The View TV show, and the women on the View immediately asked TRump (first question) what he thought about Ivanka appearing on cover of Playboy or nude in Playboy. Ivanka commented”this should be an interesting answer” because what Dad has planned a response to a question clearly unexpected and designed to shock...

Trump said it would be really disappointing and he did not think she would do that inside the magazine...then he added “Altho she does have a very nice figure...I have said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her”

One sentence. He didn’t mean he would date his daughter... nor is he attracted to his daughter as you said in your post...If you wish to be ill, how about being ill about Loretta Lynch and some of her new directives—Senator Cruz was campaigning or fundraising during the confirmation hearing vote...so we don’t know if he would have voted for or against her...

No, Trump is not politically correct—..and it would have been easier had he not said either...but he did and it is past...you choose to reject him on this. Many don’t. Perhaps it is because Trump challenges political correctness on both the left and right which is dangerous to our country and our liberties.

you choose not understand to so that you can be offended...If you had been to a rally and seen or met his children, you would not be making these comments and thinking the way you are...They are all nice, smart, happy kids. Trump is happily married, Ivanka, is now a mom, and her adult siblings are happily married. They are a great family.

I would not have chosen to say things Trump does primarily because they have become fodder for foolish people who don’t bother to look into the facts and are perched waiting to jump on Trump.
