A series of new polls released Sunday show Sen. Ted Cruz surging in key Tuesday battleground states, including Illinois, Ohio and Florida.

In Illinois, a new CBS Battleground Tracker poll has real estate mogul Donald Trump and Cruz now locked in a statistical dead head, 38 to 34, for first place.

In the NBC/WSJ poll for Illinois, Trump leads with 34 percent, with Cruz close at 25 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Marco Rubio come in at 21 and 16 percent, respectively.

In Ohio, Cruz is now nipping at the heels of both Kasich and Trump for first place.

The new CBS poll has Trump and John Kasich tied at 33 percent, with Cruz now at 27 percent.

A Fox News poll taken earlier in the week had Cruz at 19, suggesting conservatives in the Buckeye State are moving strongly behind Cruz as the main challenger to Trump....

Irrelevant: Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich will arrive at the Convention with about 54% of the delegates, under almost any scenario you can imagine. This denies Trump of getting 1237 delegates on the first ballot. After that, Rubio and Kasich delegates will fall to Cruz, giving him the nomination…..

Yep, I expected junk like that. Questions I can ask that reflect an objective interest in information are more what I’m looking for.

Tell you what though, if you could reform those questions of yours into something that at least sounds objective, I’d consider it. I like Ted, and I’m not going to ask a hostile question that ignores his own explanations of those specific issues. For example, if you had a problem with a specific justification he offered for one of these things, and you could ask it in a way that suggested you were genuinely open to understanding his perspective on the matter, that would actually be a pretty good question to ask him.

BTW, just guessing here, but if I manage to get a question to him, it probably would only be one. But who knows. It’s a very late in the day event, and I don’t know what the crowd level will be.

Another interesting thought. I’m talking with my coworkers here in Illinois, some lib, some conservative, and they are almost all feeling quite lost, as if there is no happiness on either side of the dividing line. The libs genuinely believe they would have to crawl over broken glass (Hillary or Bernie) to vote, because defeating Trump is to them a moral imperative. They are not happy.

Many conservatives here do not like Trump either, for reasons of both style and substance. Cruz is not loved much either, but at least with him I am able to have real conversations where I can occasionally win my libertarian-leaning democrat friends to at least consider Cruz. And of course he is viable with the typical Illinoisan Republican. Whereas some of Trump’s biggest supporters (that I know of) here in the office are the H1b people. Odd thing that.

I am exceptionally pleased about one thing. This is the first time in decades that I can remember that an Illinois GOP primary vote was actually meaningful. Super exciting. :)

Peace,

SR

“A nine point lead is considered close?”

Given Trump’s frequent tendency to underperform on primary day.... Yes.

“This cannot be true. Cruz is supposed to be finished because he blamed Trump for his violent rallies. I’ve read it here all weekend.”

These polls were before Cruz’s traitorous speech.

The only poll I ever pay attention to would be the ballot box All the rest is just speculation.
However in Ill would not be surprised to see 150% voter participation.

Interesting; so you are indicating Cruz cannot win in a one on one with Trump.

Probably because of the fact that Newsmax is shilling for Cruz...

Yes, I have. I’ve also said I could vote for Cruz.. either one. After Friday night, Cruz is no longer on my list. He’s disappointed me.. he’s turned into a snake in the grass. If you followed my comments, you’ll also know I wanted Trump to be more adult in his speaking. I wanted a fighter, and that was my draw to Trump. I wanted someone who would get things turned around quickly, and that was Trump. I wanted someone who did not crumble on deals.. and that was Trump. I wanted someone who was not a Washingtonian and that was Trump. I gave Cruz points for being intelligent and fighting against congress... but he just went to the side of ayres, bernie and obama after Friday night ... why did he have to do that. He also insulted Trump’s backers. He didn’t have to do that either. He wants the power and would get it any way he could.
Why do you comment on my backing Trump?

I see you commented on my “I was going to vote for Cruz”. I’ve gone from Trump to Cruz off and on. I tried to tell myself Cruz was intelligent and would do right.. I was on the fence. If Trump went 3rd party, which one would I vote for. I came to the conclusion I’d vote for Cruz, and then Trump settled down last debate and acted more adult.. I leaned to Trump after that. Trump has the actions I wanted... but I thought he was wasting himself on his talk. I started out Trump, then Cruz and then back to Trump. Is that okay with you?
