In what fantasy land do you live in to believe Cruz wins an open convention.

Cruz could win an open convention, but not in a good way. The establishment may be wary of being too overt in their actions, and be willing to tolerate a Cruz candidacy, in order to avoid Trump. They may also push for their own candidate, whether it is Kasich, or even someone outside of any currently running candidate, but there are risks associated with those kind of shenanigans which are both highly visible, and also lead to such an obviously undemocratic result.

But if they do select Cruz (and if it is an open convention, it is their selection, or, at least, a process that they can significantly influence), it is inevitable that the GOP will do everything they can to hamstring Cruz in the general election, and get Hillary! in there.
