Trump’s Seeming Incomprehension Of State Primaries Is A Big Red Flag
Right Wing News ^ | April 15, 2016 | Brent Smith

Why are the Trumpists so angry at Cruz? In fact, doesn’t it seem like they are always angry at something or someone? It’s true. It’s either “lyin’ Ted,” the Washington insiders, the press, which is bit surprising considering how much free air time he is given, or whatever. It almost appears Svengali Trump has figured out that he must continually invent new villains to keep his followers amped up. This reminds me a bit of the leaders of the hard left, who must keep some form of “The Man” in perpetuity, holding down the oppressed democrat faithful, who are then told they must “struggle” against.

After Ted’s sweep of Colorado, Trump and his drones began screeching that Cruz has cheated and stole the state’s delegates. Now he is not just lyin’ Ted, but also cheatin’ Ted. As if Cruz and his people snuck in under cover of darkness, swung a gold pocket watch in front of the delegates and told them, “when I snap my fingers you will all commit to me.”

The Trump campaign, such that it is, may not like how Colorado set things up – heck I think it is stupid too, but it’s not the state – it’s the Republican State Committee who set it up and they are perfectly within their rights to do so.

Yet the Colorado rules were set up and publicly available in August, 2015 – 7 months ago – before the Trump campaign took off. In other words, Colorado could not have set up their delegate system as some sort of anti-Trump offensive.

Both the Trump and Cruz campaigns have had 7 months to understand the rules and plan accordingly. The Cruz people, with their demonstrably superior ground game, were obviously prepared – showing forethought, planning and execution, which sure seem like good traits for a president. But it was like The Donald and his rag-tag bunch were blindsided. This should be a lesson to us all. Is this the man we want running the country – one who appears, at least in this arena, to not possess these same traits.

Trump brags about how he’s been intelligent enough to use the country’s bankruptcy laws to his advantage. He also boasts about how he takes advantage of the political system of donations to various candidates in order to purchase influence. He says it’s all perfectly legal, which it is. He understands these systems others have devised and is able to work within them to get things done. Is this not what he claims to have been doing for years? Yet he and his people appear utterly lost regarding the eccentricities of individual State rules.

To me, this is a potentially ominous red flag regarding how Trump may govern. The Constitution is clear as a bell regarding the power of the federal government. Its power is limited to that which is expressed in the document. All other authority is extended to the States and the people. If Trump has ever read the Constitution or the Declaration, which I doubt, he would surely know this. Like elections, 50 States could mean 50 different sets of rules, for virtually everything.

This concept may not sit well with president Trump and his Cabinet full of Lewandowskis. President Trump may not like all that inconsistent individuality. As CEO of Trump Inc., he has probably gotten used to being the end-all decision maker – a top-down authoritarian, if you will. In business, this can work fine, but it is anathema to our nationalist/federalist system of governance, where the president is supposed follow the rules, not make them. It would be a rather radical departure from what he has known and how he has run his company.

This is but one reason a president Trump may be at least as dangerous as a president Clinton.

Yup, Pres. Trump will deal with the GOP, and they will be much the better for it; but I suspect it is going to very unpleasant and it is going to hurt. I’m looking forward to it.

Thought some might find these bits of comments interesting

“Trump is a total narcissist, and what you see here is the way he’s always been,”.. said a source intimately familiar with Trump’s way of working, who declined to be identified criticizing a potential president....”This, between you and me, will be the destruction of the United States.”

Further stating....the source who has familiarity with Trump’s 'refusal' to recruit the best. Stated... "Because he doesn't listen to them, and then they leave,”.. said the source... “And if anybody is ever credited with doing anything good, he gets rid of them because he hates when anybody else gets credit."

There is 'growing concern' that those in his orbit known to be rude, uncouth, and ignorant could soon have their hands on the levers controlling the world’s richest economy and a military of unparalleled might...

As we know... Trump’s "two-bit campaign operation" has consistently failed to secure 'loyal' delegates if the convention is brokered.....Trump knows it too.

It's being frequently suggested now that Trump’s entire campaign was a publicity stunt that has spiraled out of control....His ground game was a sign of those who know of his lazyness to details.. but it’s also a heads up that Trump never expected to get this far and probably didn’t want to.....That Trump is a ribbon cutter... He shows up for the Grand Openings...., and then never returns. That’s his deal. He doesn’t do details.

He knows he can't quit without pi**ing his supporters off. Do you know what they’ll DO to Trump if he quits?... They’ll take his scalp.

If Trump loses at the convention?... that’s perfect. Not only does Trump get to slither out of the race, but he can spend the rest of his life bit*hing that he was “robbed” of the nomination while secretly relishing his getaway. .....

Winning is a branding exercise for Trump.. If the Republican party pries the nomination out of his fingers, he can say that he technically “won,” and then slip out the Quicken Loans Arena fire escape in disgust, leaving a mob of angry voters and tattered party platforms behind him.

All that matters is that HE looks good. Whatever comes of that..whatever terrible consequence comes at the price of keeping up appearances..it won’t matter because... He won’t have to endure the humiliation of losing the general election to Hillary Clinton. He would be the only person to walk away from the rubble relatively unharmed. ... he’ll just go off to a golf course for the rest of his life.

This is the best-case scenario for Trump. He doesn’t want to be President. But he doesn’t want to lose the Presidency. A contested convention allows him to avoid either outcome.

Watch this July as he lets it happen. Watch him complain about being treated unfairly and pretend to protest having the nomination taken away from him.

I am not sure that some of the threads this season have as much effect on public opinion as some might like to think.

FR is a vanguard. Buckhead sorted out Rather. We practically coined "GOPe." A Freeper (forgive me for forgetting who) predicted Palin's endorsement of Trump using flight info.

IMHO, Freeper revelations constantly reveal the perfidy of the administration and political parties. It is a cumulative effect.

You have gone from sipping your Kool Aid to gulping it.

” Cruz campaign’s sleazy tactics...”

If Cruz is sleazy, Trump is pond scum. Well, name calling is the new Alinski tactic by Trumpites. The issues? Oh well.

Go back to watching “NEMO”. When you catch up with the adults, call back. Maybe in June.

Trump is running for President using Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," defining his opponent as a lying, evil person not fit to live in America, much less, run for its President!

Trump refuses to argue issues with Cruz because he is unable to do that, he knows he'll lose.

Trump treated all of his opponents the same way, never arguing issues, just personal attacks (Carson's just like a child molester, Fiorina isn't pretty enough to be President, etc.) and demeaning them as persons.

How do you explain to people who are not aware, that in Arizona where Trump won by 2 to 1, that every Trump delegate is actually a Cruz operative? How is it that you characterize subverting the process so that persons assigned to represent others as their delegates at the convention actually support another candidate?

Do you believe that it is unfair to characterize that type of inappropriate campaign tactic as sleazy? It does not matter that many die hard Cruz supporter have completely lost their moral compasses. What matters is that Cruz has finally gone far enough that people are finally starting to notice. I believe that is primary reason his support has taken a precipitous drop in the last couple weeks.

Admit it, friend. You picked a loser. On top of that, nobody likes him - least of all, the voters, who’ve shouted that out, in nearly every state where there’s been a straight primary vote.

Ted can’t win the nomination, but the GOP-e might just hand it to him.

Same can be said about Cruz's analysis of the situation that makes him think like many here - "Cruz or Lose". His national numbers are going down as more folks see through the chinks in his facade of perfection. How beholden is Cruz now to how many big money folks? his constant barrage of pleas/demands for money has contained a lot of "if you do it now, it will be matched by other generous donors..." and how many of them generous donors are opening the bribe books in his quest for delegates (damn the rules, they are going contrary to the people - which seem fine by so many these days) - he's really good at using the "Grease the Palm with Payola" method, but them rules mean he can't directly conduct the bribes first hand - putting him even deeper in debt for every delegate bought and paid for - while they still may have their own loyalties/agendas later on down the road.

Plenty of red flags to go around.

Possibly, as stated in his own book, Obama was born in Kenya. Under then-existing law, if so, Obama was not entitled to American citizenship because his mother, tho a citizen, had not lived long enough in America (or anywhere else) to confer her citizenship on Barak.

There is no controversy over the fact that Cruz was born in Canada, but also no controversy over the fact that Cruz’ mother had lived long enough in America to, under then-operative law confer her citizenship on Ted.

Look, it is a technicality. If Barak is not an American citizenship it is a technicality, because there are plenty of other blacks who have no more love for American traditions than Barak does. Hillary Clinton stands in violation, far more clearly, of the provision in the Constitution forbidding a federal official from accepting gifts or emoluments without congressional authorization. Officially the gifts are laundered through a foundation - but Hillary was a principal of that foundation and had an obligation to resign if the Foundation accepted gifts from foreign governments while she was SoS. Officially the emoluments were honoraria to her husband - but Hillary was a principal in her marriage to Bill, and likewise she had the obligation to prevent that, or resign.

I will go further and say that, to obey the spirit of that constitutional stricture, no one who is considered presidential timber should ever accept foreign government donations or payments.
