You're quite right, both sides have to mutually accommodate. However, in view of the despicable campaign conducted by Trump, in view of the fact that he is the one seeking the office in the general election, the onus remains on Trump to initiate the reconciliation.

There is no defense for what he did to Rafael Cruz or to the Cruise family in general and it requires Trump to begin the process of making amends to effect a reconciliation.

Trump cannot insult his way to victory in November.

the despicable campaign conducted by Trump

Yet, you defend Lyin Ted in your same post.

Unreal. The entire country knows who ran the ‘despicable campaign’. And, it wasn’t Trump.

I would posit that despicable behavior was also exhibited by the party itself, where all manner of elected and former elected officials, as well as party apparatchiks, came out against a candidate, as opposed to the normal coming out in support of the candidate.

I know that Trump did too much shooting from the hip - leveling accusations for which there was not a plausible line of reasoning in support. I also know that his behavior toward Cruz is considered over the top by many. My own observation is that neither Trump nor Cruz acquitted themselves well in their matchup, but for differing reasons.

At the start, I stated that either Trump or Cruz would be acceptable to me. At the end of the primary contest, I still find that either could be acceptable, although I find Cruz diminished because of his employment of all the political tactics that have tarnished politics for too long. I have fears over Trump, mostly due to his bombastic campaign rhetoric, as opposed to his considered policy positions.

In the end, we will all need to individually take a deep breath, consider our souls, decide if Trump is an acceptable (as opposed to preferable) candidate, and further decide whether we would prefer Hillary over Trump, should the decision on acceptability come down on the negative side.

How are things in Germany? Maybe you should worry about that and leave our election to us here in the USA.
