Washington State holds its Republican primary on Tuesday, and with one candidate left in the race, there's not too much drama about the outcome. But in a twist — and what would the 2016 race be without a twist? — 40 of Washington's 41 delegates selected Saturday to attend the Republican National Convention in July are Ted Cruz partisans. Cruz supporters outnumbered Donald Trump supporters at the state GOP convention in Pasco, and they were better organized, pushing through the Cruz slate of delegates over occasional protests from Trump backers, who noted repeatedly that Cruz is no longer in the race.
Among the Trump supporters who did not get elected a national delegate is Trump state campaign chairman Don Benton, a Washington State senator. Benton predicted that the Cruz delegates will come around to supporting Trump — in fact, ACCORDING TO STATE PARTY RULES, they have to VOTE FOR TRUMP at the convention, assuming Trump wins the primary on Tuesday. But the Republicans in Washington State are not yet unified, The Seattle Times reports, and several candidates for statewide office are either studiously not saying if they will support Trump, like gubernatorial candidate Bill Bryant, or saying they won't. "Do you think I enjoy this? Not supporting the nominee?" said Chris Vance, a GOP candidate for U.S. Senate. "It's unpleasant."
Perhaps we will know tonight...or later this week.

Wow — for having already locked up the nomination, these Trump people sure seem to be angry — kind of like the libs these past 8 years even with their guy in the White House.
Why are you all so perpetually angry when your guy already won? Why continue to trash former opponents that are (supposedly) no longer a threat to him? Shouldn’t we be trying to unify the party, rather than continue these back-and-forths that mean nothing now that the campaign is over?
This story here is meaningless in relation to Trump’s nomination on the first ballot. As long as he has 1237 (which he should well exceed), he has the nomination. What more do you all want?

Remember, TRUMP voters of today stayed home from their precinct and county conventions, enjoyed the warmer weather and mowed their lawns, entirely off the field.
Cruz people were types who were engaged for a decade, built the local system, know what they are doing, where to be, and were human guarantees to “show up”.
They will be there next election too. So, what are we going to do about it next Primary season? We have learned a lot, and only by the grace of God were we not overwhelmed in this close call.
Either we engage now, in prep for four years from now, or we can be assured of getting our noses rubbed in the dirt, again. Cruz has proven to be a very poor loser and already a known and obsessed political climber, with a chip on his shoulder. Add the grudge factor, and it’s GAME ON once more.
The headline should read “Washington State GOP Insures Delegates will go to Cruz on a Second Round of voting, if Necessary.”
I’m sick of hearing Cruz has the groundgame when the primary results aren’t even over. Trump will get most or all of these delegates on the first ballot. How does Cruz have the superior ground game when he keeps losing?
Cruz is NO better than any of his other Globalist cohorts. It was just a ruse to fool some conservatives into thinking this was “their guy”.
In truth, he has shown himself to be a dangerous pretender. It is my hope that DJT deals with him accordingly.

How Are The Republican Delegates Calculated?
State Republicans will be sending 44 delegates to the national convention in Cleveland in July. Thirty of those delegates will be allocated proportionally based on candidate percentages in the congressional districts — three delegates from each of the 10 congressional districts. If a candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote in a congressional district, they get all three of that district’s delegates. If no candidate gets more than 50 percent and two candidates get more than 20 percent, then the one with most gets two delegates. If three candidates get more than 20 percent, each are allocated one delegate.
Fourteen at large delegates, which include three Republican National Committee members, will be allocated according to the statewide primary votes. Those delegates are allocated proportionally to candidates who have at least 20 percent of the statewide vote.
The delegates were chosen at the state Republican convention this past weekend but will not know who they are representing until the results of the primary. Of the 41 elected delegates, 40 were Cruz supporters. However, under party rules, each delegate will be bound to the results of the presidential primary for the first round of voting at the national convention.

TRUMP and his supporters have learned a lot. We can expect to get schooled, by TRUMP, on how to “show up” at our next precinct meeting. Heck, these meetings are down the street and in the neighborhood. How hard is that?
This is where the delegate battle is won or lost, for crying out loud. (Not you, but you know what I am saying.)
The reason there are mostly old people there are because they were taught Civics in junior highschool.
