Why are Trump voters so angry about immigration?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | June 10, 2016 | Peter Grier

Building a wall is one of Donald Trump's big applause lines. But why? Some research surveys suggest that many Trump followers aren’t so much anti-Hispanic as they are worried about the perceived effect of immigration on their culture and pocketbooks.

Donald Trump’s supporters have negative views about immigrants, particularly those who entered the United States illegally. That’s not a news flash. Mr. Trump’s vow to build a wall along the southern border – financed by Mexico – remains one of his biggest rally applause lines.

But what, specifically, is behind this anger? Is there anything about undocumented immigration that even Trump voters see in a positive light?

We’ve run across a couple of interesting studies that bear on these questions in recent days. The first is a Pew Research “feeling thermometer” survey that shows one reason why Trump voters, even more so than Republicans in general, think immigration is bad for the US.

The reason? Trump backers appear much more likely to believe that a growing number of newcomers in the US “threatens traditional American customs and values.”

Fully 60 percent of Trump supporters have at least a “somewhat warm” response to that statement. Only 29 percent have a “somewhat cold” response, disagreeing that immigrants are threatening the cultural foundations of the US.....

Various ethnic and racial groups have candidly stated that they intend to forcibly take our country away from “the white devils” - that’s just a fact. And we know that birthrates among whites in America (as well as other white-predominant countries) aren’t at sustainable levels.

It doesn’t take a math genius to complete the calculation.

But even if all that weren’t true why wouldn’t we want to ensure that we only allow the best - of all people - to immigrate to our country instead of herding in the dregs of the world?

What Ødungo (and the rest of the dhimmicraps) has done in his term is suicidal for our country. The moron acts as though he is too dim-witted to recognize that he too has a vested interest.

Immigration is not the problem, illegal immigration is.

............................

Agreed, but I believe legal immigration needs to be tailored to certain realities of the current economy, unemployment levels and local communities.

Perhaps we need a “cooling off” period.

Stupid title. People aren’t angry about immigration. They are angry about the crooks breaking the law. They are also angry at sleazy journalists like the one who wrote this article.

I do NOT understand why libs cannot fathom the difference between immigration and illegal immigration.

It's a mental illness.

As if someone couldn't comprehend the difference between shopping and shoplifting.

We were at a Texas Dept. of Public Safety in DFW yesterday getting my wife’s drivers license renewed. The demographics were scary.

It’s not “immigration,” it’s an illegal alien INVASION that kills 25 Americans per day from crime, disease and drunk driving deaths, costs taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars to educate their illegal children, incarcerate those that commit criminal acts, pay the costs of their medical care, welfare, EBT cards and on it goes.

When 90% of those who have arrest warrants in Los Angeles for murder are illegal aliens, and the rates in many other cities are similar, you know we have big problems.

And the morons at The “Christian” Science Monitor wonder why we’re upset?

35 million LEGAL immigrants since 1990 is way too many as well.

We should pick and choose small numbers of people who have something to benefit the U.S.A., and let them enter.

When you live in an exclusive gated community in DC, YOUR daughter will NOT get followed home.

YOUR son will not get beat-up at school.

YOUR position will not be eliminated when an illegal offers to work for ONE PENNY less.

BINGO

Oh, and by the way, Mr Peter Grier, I have been ticked off about lax enforcement since 9/11/2001.
My first thought seeing the attacks was, how are we going to find terrorists among all these illegal aliens?
I was sure that George W Bush, being a patriotic President, would seal the border with troops from Ft Hood and begin real enforcement internally to weed out the illegals and start them heading home.
Homeland security?
Instead we got two amnesty attempts and less enforcement to the point of throwing Border Patrol in jail.
This is a problem that has been encouraged to get worse in an attempt to force us to give up the rule of law.
The Kenyanesian Usurper has taken it upon himself to just change the laws by himself and the GOP hasn’t lifted a finger to stop him.
The states have won a temporary stay on his second amnesty.
Our multi-national politicians are siding with fraudulently documented foreigners against the citizens and we shouldn’t be angry?

Agreed, but I believe legal immigration needs to be tailored to certain realities of the current economy, unemployment levels and local communities.

One of those realities is that "we" didn't produce future bread winners to pay for all of the benefits we want to collect. Shipping the jobs those bread winners would have needed overseas didn't help either.

Also, as always happens in democracies, the takers are now outvoting the producers, so we also have to cover their freebies. Agree or not, we also have to pay for that now.

They can say it. Depends on the circumstance. Guns - illegal. Prayers - illegal. Climate Change denier - illegal. Chalker - illegal. Not having health insurance - illegal. Concerning immigration, the left doesn’t want illegality to get in the way of expanding Dem voter roll. So if they don’t acknowledge it, it doesn’t exist. And the band played on.

“Immigrants are peole who apply to be Americans, pay their fees, wait their turn, learn the language and comply with the laws.”

My gal was born in Shanghai. Went through years of frustrating steps to become a proud American citizen. She’s head CPA at a college. My BIL went through the same thing. He was born in Turkey, and although sort of a “social” Muslim, is not religious at all. He has built a wonderful company that makes specialized diamond tooling for the aero-space industry, but commercial and governmental. They both still love their home countries, where their families still are, but they are very proud to be American citizens! We can use people like them coming here to enrich our country. But illegal aliens that have the skill to run a weed eater? No! Hell no!

++++
Let's put this in CAPS: CULTURE AND POCKETBOOKS.

That is exactly my issue with the level of immigration we are experiencing. We are losing our CULTURE. We are bringing people into this country who have no interest in that culture. People who actively work to change it.We are giving away the greatest culture in the history of the world in order to guarantee the future dominance of Democratic politicians in our elections.

I think INSANITY is the best description for this policy.

I used to walk on California beaches-alone. Unarmed. Sometimes at night.

I used to wander through parks and play in streams and climb trees elsewhere - alone. As a kid, from age 6-17.

Kids now? In 5 years?
