Why did Trump "let" Cruz Speak, if he knew he would not endorse? It's all in the "Art of the Deal",

(cue Admiral Akbar)

Cruz fell into the trap hook line and sinker.

He had only two options, endorse Trump or be a sore loser.

Cruz thought he was being “smart” but he was just being a sore loser.

Cruz was playing checkers, Trump played Poker and won.

As I said on another thread...

Seriously?? Had Cruz done the honorable thing, we would all be saying today that he is a good man, a decent man and has a bright future. A promise should be kept - no matter what. In the famous words of Melania Trump (and Michele Obama), “your word is your bond”.

Isn’t that why we are at this point in the election season? Isn’t that why there is anti establishment sentiment? We are tired of politicians who kept promising “If we only have the house” “If we only have the senate” “We are going to reign in spending” “we will repeal Obamacare” “we will stop illegal immigration” “we will stop Obama”.

It has nothing to do with Trump. Trump offered a speaking slot. An olive branch. A chance to mend past hurts and build on the future together. It has to do with Cruz. Don’t try to turn it around.

Cruz put his own ambitions ahead of everything else. Ahead of the party, ahead of our Country. We, as a Country, don’t have time for that nonsense.

And sorry about sounding cliché, but this IS...

THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF OUR LIFETIME!!!!!

We are looking at 2 - 3 SCOTUS picks. Hillary probably has a long list of executive orders already written. Just waiting to implement and take away more of our freedoms. Including millions of illegals becoming citizens. How do you think the republicans will do in 2020 faced with that monster? They will never win another election again. And then there is this.....

“Recently Australia managed to get away, or take away,
tens of thousands, millions, of handguns. In one year
they were all gone. Can we do that? If we can’t, why
can’t we?” an attendee at a New Hampshire campaign
event asked Clinton.

“I think it would be worth considering doing it on
the national level, if that could be arranged,” the
White House hopeful replied, embracing not only a
mandated national buyback program but getting rid
of handguns in the United States.

So you sit there and be all “concerned” about a Trump presidency. You keep backing your lying candidate. I mean afterall, He’s such a constitutional conservative. He’s so honest and trustworthy. And non-establishment. He’s the only one who can save us. And his dad prophesied that it is his destiny. Surely it must be.

Trump FORGAVE the speechwriter who blew the 30 words in his wife’s speech.

Cruz is an idiot. He has a degree, but is still an idiot.

I am pretty sure that you didn’t have to “orchestrate” the booing. The delegates had enough at that point and would have Boo-TED Cruz off of the stage on their own.

The Hillary tweet won’t necessarily help her but it’s horrible optics for Cruz, if he had any political future left.

Never mind that the fat never Trump gal from CO orchestrated the loud cheers for Ted.

The C-SPAN host read her tweet to cruzbot delegates before the evening events started for them to make it sound like a lot of enthusiasm in the room for Ted

Vote Your Conscience, yeah I can see that working for Hillary Clinton LOL..even IF she thinks that will help her it wont..but Cruz has his own aspirations, he thinks he has a chance in 2020, my 16 month old nephew has a better chance at becoming President than Ted Cruz

I found it ironic that the one woman that really lacks a conscience thinks that any principled Republican would actually vote for her.

The party may not be perfect, but we're clearly united behind hatred for Lyin' Crooked Hillary!

He doesn’t..Chris Christie’s political career ended the second he hugged Obama..thats all he did, HUG Obama and he was done..there is ZERO chance for Ted Cruz, what he didnt do last night was 20 times worse than a simple hug of gratitude

I have personally known 3 people like Cruz-power mad, selfish pricks who will quite literally do anything to get what they want. Revenge should be their middle names=that, or cruel. They’re charming, well-spoken, and, unfortunately, as far as I know, still alive.

That’s how I spotted Cruz fairly early on, though not until I, too, had been favorably impressed.

Such people are to be avoided. They use others mercilessly, and will leave footprints on your back and the taste of Sulphur in your nostrils.

When you get tired of a pesky little mosquito buzzing in your ear, you do something to deter the annoyance.

Trump just stepped aside and let Cruz fly toward the blue light......

BUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Mosquito gone.

There was NO downside risk for Trump in letting Cruz speak last night.

If Cruz endorsed Trump.....GREAT for Trump!

If Cruz didn’t endorse Trump....Cruz looks like sour grapes, discredits the neverTrump crowd, and destroys his (Cruz’s) political career looking like someone not to be trusted.

Cruz became the only bad actor in his own demise.

We have two scenarios, all to the benefit of Trump.
1. Trump knew Ted was not going to endorse him, and let him do it anyway. Trump orchestrated the boos from the audience. Ted walks away with his career ruined.
If Trump did this scenario, that was a masterful job. Just think what he would do with the Democrats in Congress, or heads of states in other countries. It shows Trump knows how to play the political game.
2. Trump did not know that Cruz was not going to endorse him, (or had a sneaky suspicion that he would not). Seeing his family look angry in the audience makes me believe this scenario is more accurate.
If Trump did not know, he has the sympathy card and Ted walks away with his career ruined.
Either way was a win for Trump.

Others have written that Trump is more interested in "getting even" with primary opponents than in winning in November.

If they truly believe that, then they have no idea what winning is and how much Trump likes to win.

Hardcore Cruz supporters will never support Trump and you know what, I really dont care..let them vote for Hillary Clinton, let them write in Cruz’s name I could seriously give a rats behind what they do..they want Hillary Clinton in the White House, if they get their wish I hope they choke on the consequences..I couldnt stand John McCain, couldnt stand the man, when he said “You dont have to fear an Obama Presidency” I almost choked on my bran flakes but you know what, I VOTED FOR HIM because I saw the alternative choice..I voted for Mitt Romney, hated him even more, hated how he TANKED the debates(Either on purpose or from sheer stupidity) even though he described himself as a “Progressive” I voted for him anyway and I live in SoCal, California hasn’t gone Republican in a long long time but I still walked my butt to the voting place to vote because I CARE about my country..the GOP has given me plenty of candidates I couldnt stand but I voted for them anyway, for the good of the country!

5 states were NOT enough to put his name in nomination.
They did NOT have enough votes to force a roll call- which he would have lost.

Wherever you get your info is treating you as a fool.

Trump doesn’t require that everyone bow down and praise him as they kiss his feet the way the media like to assert. That media lie is gone now . He’s actually open to people of different opinions and even gives them the stage at the convention. Whether this was intentional or not on Trump’s part that’s how he can spin it assuming he doesn’t spend tonight attacking Cruz. Big tent is real for Trump.

In contrast, that’s exactly what Hillary will do next week. At least I doubt Bernie or anyone else will be allowed to get on stage and do something like this or even differ with Hillary on the tiniest issue. It’s the Clinton-way or Fort Marcy Park (at least figuratively). The big tent has a special section for every segment of Hillary supporters and most are supposed to shut up and listen and none are even supposed to talk to each other or they’ll see the contradictions in her messages.

“We are going to reign in spending”

Well, they sure did reign in that realm...

Trump gave Cruz a chance at redemption, a choice. Cruz chose poorly. Trump could have told him he was off.... but in fact gave Cruz free will as he may have changed his mind at the presentation. However, he didn’t.

Also to note, what does this say about Trump’s leadership and confidence? Trump willingly allowed a person to give a speech that would be against him. I’d like to think this was because Trump was confident enough that he knew the people would side with him and put the final nail in Cruz’ coffin.
