Why did Trump "let" Cruz Speak, if he knew he would not endorse? It's all in the "Art of the Deal",

Trump willingly allowed a person to give a speech that would be against him.

Would Hillary do this?

No he didn’t meet the 8 state requirement.
In the rules committee the requirement was changed to 5 states but that change doesn’t take effect until 2020.

Can’t say for certain. However, based on what I know of her and how she has acted in the past: NEVER would she allow it.

I have to agree with the article on her this week, she loves sycophants.

I have concerns that with Trump we'll have someone as mean spirited an vindictive as she is. How will he govern? Prayer is the only answer at this point.

Pray that you remain here much longer. What idiocy you have wasted a thread on.

When Cruz came on stage he received a standing ovation for a long time. This should have told him that the party truly does respect him for his views. It also should have indicated that this was a time for unity. He was booed because he failed in what he should have done.
Now, he has just relegated himself to the trash heap a failed politicians and will soon be forgotten. He lost in the primaries and could not accept it. He has alienated the Senate Republicans and the establishment Republicans. And now he has alienated the base of the Republican Party. Hated by his own party, this once rising star with unlimited potential, this person will have a bitter life to look forward to. Maybe the Democrats will pick him up to be their foil in future talk shows, such as Ronald Reagan’s son.

You haven’t posted since February, and now you give us this drive-by brain fart? If you post something like this, you ought to at least defend it.

Nothing is by accident or spontaneous at a convention.

Trump has a plan to use the Cruz resistance cabal around October 1st. Look for a Cruz mea culpa and Cruz plea for unity. In the meantime it looks like differing positions have a home and are given voice.

I mean let's face it, if Cruz was a democrat at the DNC convention he would have been dumped in the river with cement shoes, or rolled up in an oriental rug and dumped in a park somewhere.

Trump knows what he's doing.

It’s Trump’s fault Ted got up on that stage in front of God and everybody, and made a complete fool of himself? And all the delegates are mere sheep too stupid to think for themselves, or to know they’re being manipulated? And you think this indicates a grand conspiracy and mean-spirited nature on Trump’s part? That’s your position?

Ted Cruz is a grown man, well-versed in the political arena. Nobody forced him onto that stage. Nobody forced those words out of his mouth. And when he saw the crowd turning against him (even if we buy your premise that they were manipulated into turning on him), he had every opportunity to just shut up, take the high road, and get off the stage. Instead, he doubled down and kept on going. How is this in any way supposed to be an indication of how Trump will govern?

Ted Cruz jumped the shark last night and all Trump had to do was say “Sure Ted, go right ahead”. The set up for this happened months ago when Cruz was the last opponent to be baited out of his quietude by the Trump Twitter Insult Machine. He got lured into a street fight with a native New Yorker and last night was the voluntary coup de grace.

For Trump it was a “Win..Win” That IS the art of the deal!!!

Precisely. Trump couldn't have cared less whether he got an endorsement from Cruz or not. (either way, win..win)

Heard a caller on Rush say this was all a set up by the RNC to destroy Cruz. This was about Trump and unifying the party. Cruz had his fate in his own hands. He could easily have swallowed a bit of pride and taken the high road but he chose to make himself look like an ass - all on his own.

One thing people don't get with Trump is, sure, when hit, he will hit back in a second when fighting for something, but even when hit, he doesn't take it personal. It's all about winning. He keeps his eyes on the prize and avoids distractions that don't further his cause.

Cruz can’t forgive and forget Trump’s tweets about his wife.

Has everyone conveniently forgotten that some branch of the Cruz campaign STARTED it by publishing scantily clothed modeling photos of Melania from 20 years ago? How many times does Trump have to warn somebody, “You hit me first, I’ll hit you back twice as hard.”

The convenient “out” for Cruz is that he never approved of publishing the photos. Yeah, right. Just like he never approved the kneecapping of Ben Carson in Iowa; and sundry other dirty tricks.

I just read that Eric Holder got a job with Airbnb. He is in charge of making sure there is ‘diversity’ when people rent out a room in their home. Maybe Cruz can get some kind of job with Airbnb, Craigslist or Uber. Papa John’s always has openings - especially for someone who is bilingual.

Yeah because having a 1/2 black pussy dealing with our enemies the past 7 years has worked so well. It's past time we had a real leader in charge. Make America Great Again.

Trump knew that he had crossed a line after he attacked Cruz’s family so letting Cruz speak was a little fence mending. Trump is going to need Cruz in the Senate if he get elected. Trump is playing the long game here.

Cruz is an idiot. He has a degree, but is still an idiot.

Cruz has a high IQ; but, as someone who lives with a man with a high IQ, I can attest to the fact that sometimes little everyday things, common sense things, elude them.

Cruz had this twisted plan to make himself look so good, and Trump so bad, that everyone in America would write in his name on their ballot. Delusional. Not happening; and, he only made himself look so bad that his future prospects are very dim.

Why did Trump let Cruz speak? Because Mr. Trump is gracious.

“Trump’s not bothered by it and neither am I. Cruzers got to enjoy the convention last night. Win-win-win for everyone.”

Well said. Pretty much how I see it.
