You started it. I simply completed it with the facts rather than the opinion the media planted.

How about Ambassador of the United States to the Court of St James?

“Got a raw deal with the “potatoes” crap”

Wasn’t nearly as bad as Obama mispronouncing “corpsman”.

When he was Veep, it was Quayle’s forward thinking, and good efforts that saved the Tomahawk missile from being scrapped. And then came Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and Saddam’s Scud missiles, and we were d@mn glad to have a good supply of Tomahawks.

He was a very good man trashed by the SNL crew.

What else is new? It is what SNL does.

It’s hard to detect sarcasm in a post and seven sentences is hardly a dissertation.

Plus, others are reading who may not be old enough to remember the actual event and may believe what their teachers told them, that Quayle was a moron who couldn’t spell. I was performing a public service.

I’m also not the only one to correct the record on this post.

Finally, I don’t like being called Francis. (yea, that’s sarcasm too)

For some reason, the whole Quayle thing has been the point to me that the media quit reporting news and began to engage in deep advocacy journalism. It proved to me that they are not to be trusted. Ever.

I’ve done some media work for my employer, new product media tours with trade publications etc. Even there, where they are almost paid to give good reviews and showcase products, we had to always be careful what we said and how we said it, just in case it got spun.

I severely distrust the media and do my best to correct the record whenever possible.

Goebbels would be in awe of the American media.

“I think they should trot Cheney into trump tower just to see the reaction !”

I’d LOVE to see the reaction if he brought along a shotgun or one of his more than 100 full autos.

Hell, I’d be THRILLED if they made him head of the BATFE - with the explicit purpose of destroying the agency.

What has been forgotten is Quayle’s most appropriate reply, “Senator, that was uncalled for.” (It also was a lie.)

Also forgotten is that Bentson and his running mate lost that election in a landslide.

Dan Quayle is and always was a much more intelligent and astute person than he was made out to be, even George H.W. Bush recognized the fact at the time he was selected for the Vice-Presidency in 1988.

Older now, tanned, rested and ready, Dan Quayle would be a welcome addition at so many different posts, that in the 4,000 or so discretionary hires that the Trump Administration must fill out by January, 2017, surely there is a solid place for him.

Totally agree. He destroyed Gore in the 92 VP debate, and I was impressed with him during his short-lived run for the presidency in 96. Unfortunately, the Borking he received in 88 was so lasting that he could never gain traction.

Excellent. I always liked Quayle. He was a solid conservative... who always made liberal media heads explode.

I am also a Dan Quayle fan. As you said, a solid conservative. The MSM relentlessly tried to paint him as a dunce. As always, about 180° off the truth. It was an awakening for me to the power of the press to manipulate. (I was younger and more naive then.)

I am certain of one thing: Dan Quayle, at 69, brings a LOT more to the table than the current Community Organizer's entire cabinet of elites and ivy leaguers combined.
