You can get more with a smile,
a kind word and a gun than with
a smile and a kind word.

They caught a guy with a loaded gun in his carry-on bag at the main airport in Puerto Rico, yesterday.
I wonder if it's some kind of Hispanic thing. ;^)

This is probably because it is so darn hard to get a permit in Chicago. My brother in law thinks that if he even buys ammunition that the government will be looking for him. That's how messed up the thought process is in Chicago.

He's lucky he was caught here rather than after he landed in Mexico.

Your kind word quote - definitely words to live by (but too long for a prize-winning tagline, unfortunately!).

Maybe they are worried about criminals coming through so easily on the Mexican/Canadian borders?

I have not been able to own a handgun thanks to Jane Byrne. But still we have the highest murder rate in the nation. Like criminals get guns through legal processes no more than illegal aliens want their citizenship from a Cracker-Jack Box!

The Mayor of Detroit, Michigan was caught with a loaded .25 in his checked bags last week. He was not arrested. He was not deterred from his scheduled flight.
Nation of laws?

At least they caught this guy - local Philly TV this evening interviewed two women who had arrived on a flight from Seattle - midway they had looked at another woman sitting in the same row as they were and found her peeling an apple with a six inch knife - when they asked her about it, she said she really hadn't thought about the fact that it was illegal to have a knife, didn't know how she had gotten it on board but guessed that she merely just walked through airport security with it in her hand bag - she put it away, but not before allowing the women who had spotted it to take a picture of it, complete with half-peeled apple, which the TV channel showed. Not so strangely, the reporter on the story said he had received no call back from the TSA regarding the incident - sure makes me feel safe.......

A guy about 4-5 people ahead of me at Lambert St. Louis about '95 or so had a gun in his briefcase ... I believe he simply forgot to check it ... seriously ... they were cool about it and asked him to step aside ... I didn't see how it turned out but at least they didn't freak (since it was inside the X-ray machine) ...

Because they didn't post the warnings in Spanish! Roldan is not your typical Mexican/Hispanic or even Spainish name. It's possible that the family he was going to visit are Gringos. OTOH, I knew a guy named Sven, cann't remember his last name, but it was equally Scandinavian, who was a Mexican national, and spoke upper crust Mexico City accented Spanish as well as unaccented, well vaguely mid western, English. Turned out that one set of grandparents were from Sweden, the other set from Ohio. Don't know if he also spoke Swedish or not. Good kid.
Lot of people have inadvertently taken guns into airports. Barry Switzer for one, the police chief of Detroit and other such notables, who usually get off scot free, and many less notable persons who often don't.
