This chick reading the weather report sounds a little like Susan Estrich...

There is a sad irony to all those who lost their homes. There are many poor people in LA/San Diego who are feeling kind of happy that all the rich people lost their multi-million dollar homes.

At least this was true during the Oakland/Berkeley hills fire. I assume the same feelings will be held by those who could not afford to live in the hills above LA/San Diego.

Scanner: weather forecast, increasing NW winds.

Does a Northwest wind mean "blowing in the northwest direction" or from the northwest direction?

Wish I knew someone in that profession. Sorry I can't be of help there.

The report I got was that it was a 3.7, with a depth of 3.2 miles.
That being said, it's still just a little one. Didn't even feel it here in Burbank, about 20 miles away.

2.4 mi WNW of Simi Valley, CA 3.7 prelim

My wife said it felt pretty mild, which is what you'd expect for a 3.7. Of course it still tends to upset the dog and cats -- especially our one cat who is old enough to remember the Northridge quake. She went into hiding for two or three days after that one, and was obviously traumatized by it. To this day she spooks easily at any loud noise or heavy vibration.

I haven't heard anything about BlueJay. Lake Arrowhead is in deep trouble.

There are plenty of folks living in those hills, that have had those homes for many years or have carried on the deed from deceased parents. Not all are wealthy.

They may feel that people should not be allowed to live in the hills and that it should be public territory that all people may use, regardless of income.

I lived in SoCal most of my life and even the little ones unsettled me in a big way. The bigger ones sent me reeling. Glad I don't experience those up here in Sacramento. knock on wood.
