"Yea right....I can't be upset because our Soldiers are getting blown away......I guess you just say to yourself "oh well another one bites the dust" "

You’re talking nonsense for two days in a row now. Try and pull yourself together.

Terrorism can be defeated and it will happen by us taking the fight to them. We didn't do that for a lot of years and now we are going to have to slug our way through the difficult times to force it back into its hell hole and out of the lime light.

It will take sacrifice and risk and it will cost blood. But that has always been the price for liberty. When we are not vigilant, the price goes up.

These young men and women are our best. They have volunteered to defend our freedom and way of life. They know the risks and they are willing to take them...God bless them all.

I am proud of every one of them and we do not show our support, or honor, or faith in them or their sacrifice on our behalf by advocating that we "cut and run" when the going gets tough.

They remember what happened on 911 and why it happened. By God they are out there doing something about it...and it is what must be done and they know it. They deserve our unqualified and unending support IMHO in this mission.

I pray for those who are injured and killed and their loved ones. God rest the souls of those who are killed...bind up and mend the wounds of the injured...and comfort all of their loved ones.

...then God's speed in their efforts to Charlie Mike and erradicate the terrorists and all nations who abett them.

Think of the great sacrifices and years of unbelievable casualties in World War II...then you will know why we must continue the course.

We ultimately bombed the north to the negotiating table and they signed a peace treaty to get us to stop. We then left. When the north violated that traty and invaded the south...we kept leaving and that is where we "lost" the war.

Sorry, but there was no way we were going to win in Viet Nam regardless. Same situation with Iraq now. You can declare all the military victories that you want, but as long as the average cong or Iraqi doesn't want us there, they will fight us until we leave. Again, you need to understand our history in the ME beginning with our overthrow of a legitimate democracy in Iran and support for the dictator the Shah in 1953. Once we betrayed our own high and mighty principles and the Iranian people, we ourselves assured the rise to power of the fundamentalist movement and all the consequences of that. It was about oil then and its about oil now and we are adding fuel to the fundamentalists opposition to our interventions. Look at the big picture.

Do you think there will ever be peace out there??????

Not as long as we tell the world one thing and do another. We are making new enemies every day and the only countries out there who claim support for us have to be bribed into doing so. We're way out on a limb and our enemies all have saws in their hands. The nitwits and clown in this administration are clueless. They believe that you can actually muscle and buy the world into submitting to our will. All they are going to do is get a bunch of American sons and daughters killed for their mindless hubris and misguided leadership.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

We won in Vietnam, and then we ran and gave the enemy its victory ...that is the stigma of Vietnam, not the leftist revisionist history the media spouts and that you have apparently bought into

...and we are going to win in Iraq and make it stick

The average Iraqi WANTS us there. It's the small minority of Baathist leftovers and infiltrating terrorists that do not and this admin is going to deal properly with that small minority.

You can spout all of the revisionist history you want...but that will not change the facts.

We've both made our points, and it is good that a counterweight to what you have written here is now also there for others to see...I am content to let the readers judge for themselves.

If judgement is based strictly on facts, you will be in a losing position. Absolutely nothing supports your arguments especially the laughable idea that we won in Viet Nam. We are the world's rogue state and they will deal with us harshly.

I am so sorry for the heartbreaking loss of our troops in the Chinook attack. Prayers for Mike, you, Mike's 'kids' and their families. May God help you and Mike find the words to console and support them and each other.

Maybe some of the tactics used in Vietnam would work here. You get sniped at from a building, the building is history. You get shot at from a field, the field is toast. I know that is not real conducive to making friends out of the rag heads, but they will know what the consequences are.

I agree. I'd napalm that palm grove for starters. The lesson will be "if you let Baathists fire from your property, it will be toast, so you had better drop a dime quick to Uncle Sam about what's going on."

solutely nothing supports your arguments especially the laughable idea that we won in Viet Nam.

Are you familiar with the Paris peace accords at the time and what brought the North to those tables? If not, read up on them. The fact is...the North made peace and they pulled out because we were bombing them into the stone age and had defeated their armies in the field. It was when we scaled way back that they violated that peace and invaded...and then we did nothing about it but keep pulling out.

I will grant that this is when we lost the war...but it was a loss by not showing up...not a defeat at arms. That loss, and the manner in which it happened has dogged us ever since.

Rogue state? Man you are either hopelessly ignorant, or you are a useful idiot. The United States, despite its mistakes, has been the most charitable ally and most benevolant victor of any major world power the world has ever seen. History makes that statement.

Either way, I am content to let the statements we have both made stand for themselves on their own merit.

Those are the tactics I would use and given the local of the pro Saddam forces I am not sure we have a whole lot of friends in those villages anyway.

You have allowed yourself to become a pod person of the state propagandists. I have no way of dealing with people who refuse to see the truth and choose to keep themselves in ignorance. There is nothing charitable and benevolant about the US. We just tried to take over a soverneign state for their natual resources. We promise the Iraqi people a domocratic government but there is now why we can ever permit that to happen. We will only tolerate dictators or totally corrupt regiemes and puppet governments willing to take orders from Halliburton and Washington. Read your history. Read what we did to the deomocratic government of Iran and how for 25 years will supported the ruthless Shah. Yeah, some benevolant state we are. Dig your head out of the sand and read a little history. Too afraid?

Amerians under President Bush don't cut and run, like you would, panty-waist!

You're right about that. They stand there and die so the Halliburton execs can rack up multi million dollar bonuses and live nice and safe in the Hampton mansion. Sweet deal when you own the presidency.
