Anglican Split Feared as Gay Bishop Is Consecrated (Can you say apostacy?)

In the TV news headlines I saw today, the first headline was about the helicopter that was shot down, and the second was about this homosexual bishop.

How related these stories probably are...

It probably stems from 1536, the beginning of the Anglican Church as a national church independent of the Pope because he refused to let Henry VIII divorce Cathrine of Aragon. (Henry stupidly thought she was to blame for not giving him a son.) That was probably not the best reason to start a church....

As a Southern Baptist I find it very difficult to understand how sincere Christian people (Episcopals) could allow the approval and consecration of a openly homosexual church leader. This event is a mockery of the Scriptures. Homosexuality, totally rejected by God in the Scriptures is a risky and unhealthy behavior and lifestyle.

As with all sin, nothing good can come from homosexuality or from a church leader who openly embraces it.

I hope the Christians of the Espiscopal denomination will rise up and rebuke those leaders who brought about and supported this poor decision.

If you're headed for the Lutherans, go to a Missouri Synod Church. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which has some official partnership with the Episcopal Church, is headed in the same direction as the ECUSA.

What I find really breath-taking about this whole thing was the interviews I have heard from Bishop Robinson.

He doesn't see what he's doing as the problem, but that those who want to break away from the Church as the problem.

You would think that someone in his situation would back down if he saw a schism coming from within the Church. Doesn't the Bishop have a responsibility to his flock before himself?

Since when does it become self-serving rather than serving God?

I truly feel for your church at the moment.

I'm just guessing, but I suppose this is how these Episcopal episcopal consecrations are done? In any case, I find the response of the audience to be telling.

That might have been a valid counterpoint... if the newly-formed Anglican Church hadn't kept all of the practices you cite (including the doctrine of intercession). I don't see the fact that they have "strayed" from their original practices over the past 450 years to become more Protestant as a positive point for your argument (and I have absolutely NO dog in this fight; as I'm Protestant).
