GAINESVILLE - Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney - a lightning rod of controversy while a member of the State House of Representatives and the U.S. Congress - will speak in Gainesville next Saturday, November 22.

McKinney was defeated in a re-election bid a year ago in the midst of a storm of controversy over comments about the President, while demanding an investigation of the terrorist attacks.

She will be the keynote speaker at a banquet at the Gainesville Civic Center marking the 53rd anniversary of the Newtown Florist Club.

The florist club began in 1950 as a place where people in the Newtown community could turn for flowers in times of illness or death in their families, but has evolved over the years into a civil rights/environmental justice organization.

"We are very excited to have Ms. McKinney join us as we celebrate our 53rd anniversary, as she is the embodiment of the spirit that guides us," said Newtown Florist Club President Faye Bush. "In addition, we will also recognize a number of individuals who battle tirelessly for social and economic justice, but go overlooked."

McKinney insists that when she became one of the first members of Congress to demand a thorough investigation of the events of September 11, she was vilified and targeted by Georgia and national Republicans. In fact, an estimated 47,000 Republicans voted in the Democratic Primary last year, helping force her out of Congress.

As a result, McKinney filed a lawsuit against the practice of "crossover" voting in Georgia.

However, an analysis of the votes cast in her race by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution later found that McKinney would probably have lost the primary anyway.

It appears that defeated Democrats need a stake driven through their hearts to get them to lay down and shut up...

Don't forget to cut off the head and stuff the mouth with garlic.
Otherwise you will have to do it all over again.

McKinney's mistake was to challenge the ruling power structure in our country.

It's okay to attempt to subvert the Bill of Rights, attack the 2nd amendment, surrender our soveirngity, and engage in all sorts of criminal activity as the politicians that do this are rarely held accountable. (McKinney did most of this too, but that's not why she was removed).

But what's 'not okay' is to challenge our elitist screw-party system.

Most who do this are removed from office (McKinney, Dornan, Traficant, Judge Moore, etc.....). A few renegades, like Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo, are still there, but the GOP is trying to oust them as well. And others who challenge the system, don't even fare that well (see Larry McDonald).

McKinney was used by those who don't want an investigation into 9-11 prior knowledge, which there was plenty of (James Bovard has documented much of it in "Terrorism and Tyranny"). A lot of the 'prior knowledge' stuff was starting to come out, and they used a polarizing figure like McKinney to lead the charge on the investigation. Then they turned on her, and forced her from office to send a signal to others who might want to deviate from the official party line on 9/11.

The end result was the Republicans who had doubts didn't want to be seen on the same side of an issue as a loudmouth Marxist like McKinney. And Democrats who had doubts didn't want to share her fate in being removed from office. It worked like a charm.

You've been watching too much X-files. There was plenty of discontent with McKinney pre-9/11, and her lunacy became apparent to the middle-of-the-road Democrats post-9/11. That and a strong black woman Democrat judge opponent in the primary is what did her in, big picture. No tinfoil hat conspiracies required.

Don't forget her lunatic father, and it all adds up to: "Cynthia, You L-E-W-S"!

LOL, I forgot about that one. Yes, the bladed one had a not-insignificant effect, I'm sure.
