President Bush secretly landed an hour ago and is currently eating Thanksgiving dinner at my undisclosed location. Anticipate a press release after he takes off.

President George W. Bush pardons the Thanksgiving turkey during a Rose Garden ceremony Monday, Nov. 24, 2003. "I appreciate you joining me to give this turkey a presidential pardon," said the President in his remarks. "Stars is a very special bird with a very special name. This year, for the first time, thousands of people voted on the White House website to name the national turkey, and the alternate turkey. Stars and Stripes beat out Pumpkin and Cranberry. And it was a neck-to-neck race."

Don't apologize. From some weird comments, I thought the poster was a disruptor, also. Plus another thread on this event was deleted.

Let's rejoice together that it's TRUE!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving back at you! First thought that crossed my mind -- Hillary -- am still laughing that she got upstaged. Now back to making my dressing!

What a wonderful Thanksgiving for our military to see their Commander-In-Chief take the risk of visiting Baghdad! Never been prouder of President Bush then I am right now!

This trip demonstrates the troops have respect for the man and the office with President Bush.

With DUmines Clinton (and hitlery) it is a constant reminder to the troops that you have to respect the office if not the person.

Apparently, Eleanor hasn't learned that she doesn't get, on Fox, the carte blanche she gets on other networks.

This is so cool.

Bush is just class all the way. And the SS probably were chewing their nails off clear to the elbow.

Hillary probably has to make surprise visits as well, lest she see the ubiquitous welcome sign that appears when her victims are informed in advance.

CNN radio saying that "very few" of the troops got to see the President.

They are probably spitting mad at the Central Comittee News network in Atlanta.

From BBC:

Bush makes secret visit to Iraq

Air Force One
Mr Bush made a flying visit on Air Force One
US President George W Bush has made a surprise visit to Baghdad to mark America's Thanksgiving holiday.

The event was kept secret until Mr Bush was in the Iraqi capital because of security concerns. Had word of the trip leaked it would have been cancelled, the Associated Press reported.

Mr Bush spent two hours having dinner with US troops at Baghdad airport before leaving Iraq. The visit is the first to Iraq by a United States President.

It comes on the heels of a brief visit by UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, who also did not announce his trip.

The US deputy defence secretary, Paul Wolfowitz visited Baghdad a month ago. A rocket was fired at the hotel where he was staying, killing one US officer.

It had been announced that Mr Bush would spend Thanksgiving with his family at his Texas ranch.

A menu for the dinner had even been made public, AP reported.

President Bush's father visited US troops in Kuwait on Thanksgiving Day 1990, on the eve of the first US-led war in the Gulf.
