President Bush secretly landed an hour ago and is currently eating Thanksgiving dinner at my undisclosed location. Anticipate a press release after he takes off.

I am just completely lovin' this story. Dubya has big old fashioned brass ones, to pull off a visit like this.

I notice that they said that after his speech he did the usual meet and greet among the troops, and then stepped over BEHIND the serving line and started scooping out sweet potatoes to the troops in line.

Class act.

Pres. Bush to the troops, recap:

"We thank you for your service. We're prouid of you. America stands solidly behind you.

Together, you and I have taken an oath to defend our country. You're honoring that oath. The United States military is doing a fantastic job...You are defeating the terrorists in Iraq so we don't have to face them in our own country.

You are defending the American people from danger, and we are grateful.

You are engaged in a difficult mission.

We did not charge 100s of milies into Iraq, pay the cost in casualties...only to retreat in the face of a band of thugs and assasins.

(Major standing "O" from the troops ~ LOUD cheering and applause).

We will prevail. We will win because our cause is just. We will win because we sill stay on the offensive.

We will because you are part of the finest military ever asssembled.

We will win because the Iraqis want their freedom.

Every day you see firsthand the commitment the Iraqi poeple are making to secure their own freedom.

You have the opportunity to seize the moment and rebuild your country.

The regime of Saddam Hussein is gone forever.

The United States and the Coalition  will help you build a peaceful nation so that you're children can have a future.

We will stay until the job is done (standing 'O'!).

You, the Iraqi people, will show the world that you are not only couragaeous, but that you can govern yourself wisely.

On this Thanksgiving, we remember the men and the women of the US military..

We ask for God's blessing on their families, their loved oines and friends and we pray for your saftey and your strength as you continue to defend America.

Each one of you has answered a great cause.

We both obey a code of honor...service to the nation, and safety and security (for America)..

Our military is (made up) of the finest people on the face of the earth.

I'm proud (or honored) to be your Commander in Chief.

May God bless you all."

Speaking of the parade, did they let that freak, Harvey Fierstein, remain in the parade as Mrs. Claus?

I think the problem was that this thread was posted almost 2 hours before the news broke on mainstream media.

In fact... because of this thread I turned off my TTT EE dvd and started watching Fox News. Just minutes before this broke, Wendell Goler was discussing what President Bush was eating in Crawford, TX for his TG meal.

Some quotes from Bush's speech:

"I bring a message on behalf of America: We thank you for your service, we are proud of you and America stands solidly behind you," Bush told about 600 soldiers, who were stunned to see the president emerge from a side door inside a military mess hall at Baghdad International Airport.

Without hinting of the enormous surprise to come, Iraq's U.S. civil administrator Paul Bremer told the soldiers he was supposed to read the president's Thanksgiving proclamation to them but would instead defer to the most senior person on the premises.

At that point, Bush emerged wearing a military jacket and loud cheering began.

"I was just looking for a warm meal somewhere," Bush said. "Thanks for inviting me to dinner ... I can't think of a finer group of folks to have Thanksgiving dinner with than you all."

"You are engaged in a difficult mission. Those who attack our coalition forces and kill innocent Iraqis are testing our will. They hope we will run," he said.

"We did not charge hundreds of miles through the heart of Iraq, pay a bitter cost of casualties, defeat a ruthless dictator and liberate 25 million people only to retreat before a band of thugs and assassins," the U.S. president said to a standing ovation.

"We will prevail. We will win because our cause is just. We will win because we will stay on the offensive," Bush declared.

Afterward Bush shook hands with soldiers, all of them wearing desert fatigues and took a place in the chow line and helped serve them plates of food.

Bush also met with four members of the Iraqi Governing Council, the U.S.-appointed group that has struggled to return normal life to Iraqis and is drawing up plans for free elections and a constitution.

I think it would be even better if President Bush would actually bring up Hillary's comments from about a week ago (where she said SHE visited the troops at Walter Reed Hospital and HE needed to blah blah blah) and then graciously THANK her, saying,

"She was right. Our troops DID need to see their COMMANDER IN CHIEF and President in person, in Iraq. I'm glad my staff planned this two months ago and was able to keep it a secret." hee hee hee
