If by controlling an idea you mean owning it then yes we own it. It's intellectual property that was developed here. That's what I was thinking. They've got a lot of nerve wanting to control our internet. Ultimately, it's because they want to control us, isolate us from access to information, isolate us from each other, silence dissenting voices...
What they're really attacking is the First Amendment. The internet provides us with a means to "freedom of assembly" never before seen in all of earth's history and as a bastion of "freedom of speech", "they" can't stand it.
The internet in its current state is a very real threat to any plans the UN may have for global domination. It gives serfs like me way too much power. Knowledge is power. Being a member of a very large community that I can instantly reach out to is power. Having a podium from which I can speak (and speak freely) is power. The UN wants to take that power away.
They'll start with the usual "We must curb hate speech" BS. That'll be their strategy for attacking the internet. They'll start with the obvious ones, like white supremacist sites, then they'll keep going. Religious sites decrying abortion and homosexuality, conservative political sites like FR, pro-Second Amendment sites, etc. will all be on their hit list. (They may use an anti-pornography strategy, too, since there is much to be found on the net.)
In an ideal world (according to the UN) the internet would be taxed into oblivion, on-line sales would just barely limp along, and freedom of speech would be non-existent.

I was thinking along the same lines. They are getting the discussion started. They will patiently wait for a socialist globalist to become president of the US. They won't have to steal anything and they will certainly laugh at how easily we give it away to them.

You hit the nail on the head.
It's all about control and right now they can't control us.

I shudder to think what Hitlery does period let alone in a position of real power.

!NUTS
If they "govern" the Internet then there will be no 'freedom of speech' left to Americans.
One of their constructs says that you can't say anything against the UN (can't remember which one it is right now).
Better watch this one!

Oh yeah...a DOH! moment
Universal Declaration of Human RightsArticle 29.
(1) Everyone has duties to the community in which alone the free and full development of his personality is possible.
(2) In the exercise of his rights and freedoms, everyone shall be subject only to such limitations as are determined by law solely for the purpose of securing due recognition and respect for the rights and freedoms of others and of meeting the just requirements of morality, public order and the general welfare in a democratic society.
(3) These rights and freedoms (?) may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.

I'm getting slow. It took me eight whole minutes to remember, find and post that.
I used to be able to do it much quicker. Information overload and all that, ya know.

I read a year or so ago that a global tax has been proposed. Tax the "rich" nations and give to the "poor" nations. I think we already give too much money to too many other countries now.
