How to Stop Illegal Immigration
Federation for American Immigration Reform ^ | 6/03

Posted on 12/12/2003 11:04:44 AM PST by yonif

Illegal immigration is an enormous problem for the United States, and one that is growing, with nine to eleven million illegal aliens currently estimated to be in the U.S. While most efforts to halt illegal immigration have focused on our southern land border, the difficulties are spread throughout the immigration system. Spotty or haphazard efforts to end illegal immigration cannot succeed.

In order to compose an overall, cohesive plan, FAIR sponsored an experts' study that resulted in the report Ten Steps to Ending Illegal Immigration. It is important to realize that the proposals outlined below are not separate, but are interdependent parts of an overall plan to end illegal immigration--a plan that can succeed. The following are the key recommendations.

The loopholes that facilitate illegal immigration must be closed.

We need to:

Incentives for illegal immigration must be eliminated.

We need to:

The penalties for violating immigration law must be increased.

We need to:

Existing programs that are particularly effective must be expanded.

We need to:

Government agencies must coordinate their efforts better and more extensively.

We need to:

A greater investment must be made in the personnel who combat illegal immigration.

We need to:

Top-of-the-line equipment must be available to the enforcers of immigration law.

We need to:

New technology must be harnessed to the battle against illegal immigration.

We need to:

One well known and documented way is to do a 3 day trek across into AZ.

Very Very easy for someone from Mid Eastern areas.

Currently my freinds that work Border Patrol in Imperial Valley are seeing a 6:1 ratio of Chinese to Mexicans.

Chinese are heavly armed with assualt wepaons.

Bush has been as effectivce in securing the Cal border as Clinton.

The numbers are up.

Beautiful, the chicoms don't have to bomb us they can just invade us and we won't do anything to stop them.

There are two aspects the this problem. Controlling the borders, and dealing with what has already occurred. We can stop illegal immigration (only if both parties agree, IMO. It probably won't happen otherwise), but we have to deal with those already here (they ain't leaving).

Well, first thing you need to do is update your document.

The INS hasn't existed since February 2003: it's now part of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, under the Department of Homeland Security. . . .

This report ignores the demand side of the problem. In order to have any significant effect on illegal immigration the demand must be drastically reduced. Hotel, restaurant, landscaping, construction and agriculture business' would need to restructure, especially in boarder states. There are powerful interests in keeping things the way they are. Until they are forced to stop using cheap illegal labor, we will try to empty the ocean by using a teaspoon.

Attention all of you GWB illegal immigration apologists...

You maintain that our president and our other elected Republicans would do something about this problem if they only could.....

How's this for a start? To me, this looks like some pretty good suggestions.

Both parties turn a blind eye to the fact that our country is being overrun with criminals. Both parties have their own self-serving reasons.

For the Democrats it is a chance to buy a new crop of voters.

For the Republicans, inaction provides them a shot at this same crop of new voters. Plus it keeps them in the good graces of those who hire illegals and otherwise rely on the current situation to maintain a pool of cheap labor.

Face it folks - we don't count for sh1t. Caught between special interests, the American citizens are screwed

Given the number of Chinese infiltrating through the borders, and the son of the head of China found to have been smuggling AK47's, granades, granade launchers, missle launchers and missiles into the USofA, could history be repeating itself?

Jeremiah 51:13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundent in treasures, thine end has come, and the measure of thy covetouness.

The Lord of Hosts has sworn by Himself saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillars, and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

Tancredo is chastized by his party. Buchanan got out of the "Two-Party Cartel". Does this not indicate that NOTHING will be done for the citizenry if we vote in this cartel?

This looks like a recipe for a more ineffective border controlwith a much larger bureaucracy. It does nothing to address the real cause which is American employers hiring illegals.

Use asset forfeiture laws against any individual, group, or corporation that hires an illegal alien - something along the line of drug dealer / RICO forfeitures. Publicize about a month of this policy and the illegals will flee en masse.

Implement a guest worker track to citizenship program which would give full paper after 7 years to any guest worker who:
Keeps a clean record
Pays taxes
Learns English.

These guest worker billets would only be in fields where Americans weren’t' filling the jobs at the prevailing wage. Give the guest workers full worker protection.

Illegal immigration is a corrupt employer problem.

Apply some of those same forfeiture rules to the illegals. If caught the first time, deport any family immediately, seize any and all property and assets of the illegal and his/her family. Sentence the illegal to 1 year on a chain gang. At the end of 1 year, deport immediately. NO appeals possible. If the illegal is caught again, repeat all of the above except make the chain gang sentence 2 years. Raise the sentence according to the number of times caught. It won't take long for the word to get back to the other potential violators that coming in illegally is not a good idea.

Worth repeating. Much like drugs, until you reduce the demand, you'll never reduce the supply.
