I dont know that much about the flight paths. Some help please.
A flight from Paris to LAX would over fly ALL of the US. If the terrorist took control of the flight on the east coast they could fly the plane anywhere in the US?
So Los Angeles itself wouldnt necessarily be the target but the flight could divert quickly over its flight path??
What do you think??

That sounds pretty reasonable. I have family driving from SLC to Phoenix and they are going to stop over in Vegas. Maybe they shouldn't go that route.

Paris to LAX would spend more time over Canada than US IMHO , pretty much come over the pole.

My guess is that the flight would cross through Canada entering the U.S. somewhere over Montanna or west of the Rockies before traveling down to L.A. Trans-continental flights follow the curvature of the globe, not the straight line lattitude path.

This is what I've been thinking!
Couldn't these flights be diverted anywhere in the U.S.?

I agree that is possible. Also I believe one flight was set to land in Cincinnati before proceeding to LAX, but that came from a tv reporter, and I cannot vouch it is totally correct.

The 911 planes were all west coast bound presumably to have more fuel in the crash.

Agreed. Could be that one was for dc, one for ny, and another for LA. Departure times sync-ed so that all could be taken over and crashed simultaneously.
